The Ideal Candidate A PhD in computer science or a closely related field is required by the start of the appointment, with a demonstrated record of excellence, or promise of excellence, in research and in teaching. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research in Computer Security and Privacy broadly interpreted as including, but not limited to the following: • OS security and malware analysis • software security • computer forensics • penetration testing and ethical hacking • mobile security • cloud security • user privacy • trust management • cryptography The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and externally funded research at the highest level in the field of Computer Security and Privacy. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence of a recognized international calibre, as demonstrated by, for example: the research statement that clearly evidences the impact and importance of the work; a record of publications in significant journals and/or conferences in the Security and Privacy fields; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and recommendations from referees of high standing. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching, and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Dear All: The 24th IEEE International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Scientific and Engineering Computing (PDSEC-23) (http://www.ieee-tcsc.org/2023/pdsec/) will be held on May 19, 2023 in St. Petersburg, Florida in conjunction with IPDPS 2023. Deadline: PDSEC-23 deadline: 15 Jan 2023 (AoE) Scope and Interests: The technological trends in HPC system evolution indicates an increasing burden placed on application developers due to the management of the unprecedented complexity levels of hardware and its associated performance characteristics. Many existing scientific applications codes are unlikely to perform well on future systems without major modifications or even complete rewrites. In the future, it will be necessary to utilize, in concert, many characteristics such as multiple levels of parallelism, many lightweight cores, complex memory hierarchies, novel I/O technology, power capping, system-wide temporal/spatial performance heterogeneity and reliability concerns. The parallel and distributed computing (PDC) community has developed new programming models, algorithms, libraries and tools to meet these challenges in order to accommodate productive code development and effective system use. However, the scientific application community still needs to identify the benefit through practical evaluations. Thus, the focus of this workshop is on methodologies and experiences used in scientific and engineering applications and algorithms to achieve sustainable code development for better productivity, application performance and reliability. The objective of the SCALE Challenge is to highlight and showcase real-world problem-solving using computing that scales. Participants in the challenge will be expected to identify significant current real-world problems where scalable computing techniques can be effectively used, and design, implement, evaluate and demonstrate solutions. Problems that have a social impact are of particular interest. Authors are invited to submit 6-page technical paper, excluding references, describing the nature of the problem being solved, the solution technique, and offer preliminary evidence of the scalability achieved. The technical committee will shortlist finalists from these proposals, and invite them to present their work and offer a live demonstration at the CCGrid 2023 conference. The conference will be held in person physically. One author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and present their work and demonstration at a special SCALE Challenge session. A panel of experts will judge and select the IEEE TCSC SCALE Challenge winner.
