---------------------Call for Papers - Final Call ------------------------------ The 8th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud 2021) IEEE-CS TCI 23-25 August 2021, Online (Virtual) http://www.ficloud.org/2021/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Cloud is a modern computing platform for delivering on-demand computing services to service consumers over the Internet. Computing services include, for example, storage, memory, compute power, databases, and networking among others. Cloud services are generally provided using SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service). Unlike conventional distributed computing, cloud offers flexibility, scalability, efficiency and elasticity in service provisioning. The Internet of Things (IoT) provides a dynamic and global network infrastructure which is characterized by intelligent and self configuring capabilities. IoT is considered as an integral part of the future Internet. It is based on interoperable communication protocols in order to enable the interaction and integration of virtual as well as physical Things such as computers, smart devices, sensors, cars, refrigerators, food packages, medicines, etc. Things can be seamlessly integrated into the information network and interaction can be made through the provision of intelligent interfaces. In not so distant future, IoT will be forcing its way into every aspect of our lives and technologies including smart homes, smart cities, environment and nature, green energy, food, medicine, automotive, aerospace and aviation, telecommunication, and so on. IoT is generally characterized by real world and small Things, limited capacity, constrained devices and the consequential issues such as less reliability, security and privacy. Cloud computing on the other hand deals mainly with virtual world and has unlimited capabilities in terms of storage and processing power. Thus cloud and IoT are the main complementary aspects of the future Internet. IoT can benefit from the unlimited capabilities and resources of cloud computing. Similarly, cloud can benefit from IoT by extending its scope to deal with real world things in a more distributed and dynamic manner. The theme of this conference is to promote the state of the art in scientific and practical research of the IoT and cloud computing. It provides a forum for bringing together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and public sector in an effort to present their research work and share research and development ideas in the area of IoT and cloud computing. Papers should be prepared using IEEE two-column template. Dear Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks engineers, scientists and enthusiasts, you are welcomed to register in this CVML Short e-course on 'Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks', 27-28th April 2021: https://icarus.csd.auth.gr/spring-cvml-short-course-machine-learning-and-dee p-neural-networks/ It will take place as a two-day e-course (due to COVID-19 circumstances), hosted by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Thessaloniki, Greece, providing a series of live lectures delivered through a tele-education platform. They will be complemented with on-line video recorded lectures and lecture pdfs, to facilitate international participants having time difference issues and to enable you to study at own pace. You can also self-assess your knowledge, by filling appropriate questionnaires (one per lecture). You will be provided programming exercises to improve your programming skills. It is part of the very successful CVML short course series that took place in the last three years. Course description 'Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks' The short e-course consists of 16 1-hour live lectures organized in two Parts (1 Part per day): Part A lectures (8 hours) provide an in-depth presentation of Deep Neural Networks, which are at the forefront of AI advances today, starting with introduction to Machine Learning. Then the cornerstone DNN theory and technologies are presented: a) Artificial Neural Networks, Perceptron; b) Multilayer perceptron, Backpropagation; c) Deep neural networks. Both data classification and regression problems are treated. Convolutional NNs; d) Recurrent Neural Networks; e) Attention and Transformers. Applications follow in several image analysis, computer vision and autonomous system applications, notably: a) Deep learning for object detection and b) Deep Semantic Image Segmentation. Finally, Generative Adversarial Networks are presented that promise to revolutionize the way we create media/arts, while seriously threatening our democracy with fake data creation and spread. Part B lectures (8 hours) provide fan in-depth presentation of Machine Learning to complement DNNs. Unsupervised Learning (Data Clustering) is first detailed, allowing us to find structure and extract concepts/knowledge from huge high-dimensionality data. Then Supervised Learning (Data Classification) techniques are presented, notably: a) Decision surfaces (whose special case is DNNs and SVMs) and b) Distance based classification. Dimensionality reduction techniques are overviewed, allowing us to visualize high-dimensionality data found in most applications, ranging from Medicine to Financial Engineering. Kernel methods are presented that can boost performance of any linear ML operation (e.g., PCA, K-means etc). Bayesian learning provides a unified theoretical framework that can encompass many of the ML approaches. Deep Reinforcement Learning is also presented, as it is an essential element in novel Robotics/Control and other decision-making application domains. Finally, CVML programming tools (e.g., DNN frameworks, BLAS/cuBLAS, DNN and CV libraries) are overviewed, as they allow fast application of all the above knowledge in almost any application domain. The title and abstract submitted by this deadline should have sufficient detail and not just be a placeholder. Submitted manuscripts should be structured as technical papers and may not exceed ten (10) single-spaced double-column pages using 10-point size font on 8.5×11 inch pages (IEEE conference style), including figures, tables, and references. The submitted paper should list the authors and their affiliations. The IEEE conference style templates for MS Word and LaTeX provided by IEEE eXpress Conference Publishing are available for download. See the latest versions here. Electronic submissions must be in the form of a readable PDF file. Submitted papers must represent original unpublished research that is not currently under review for any other conference or journal. Papers not following these guidelines will be rejected without review and further action may be taken, including (but not limited to) notifications sent to the heads of the institutions of the authors and sponsors of the conference. REVIEW PROCESS All manuscripts will be reviewed by the Program Committee and evaluated on originality, relevance of the problem to the conference theme, technical strength, rigor in analysis, quality of results, and organization and clarity of presentation of the paper. Authors are highly encouraged to list the key contributions of their paper, for example in a separate paragraph in the introduction of the paper. The review process is “single-blind” (i.e., authors can list their names on the paper), and that there will be a rebuttal period. The initial decision for the submission may be Accept, Reject or Revise. Papers that are recommended for revision will have to address the comments from the reviewers, and submit a revised article along with a summary of changes. This will go through a light review and the final decision will be communicated.

ICCSA 2021: Computational Optimization and Applications - deadline extended

Like last year, ICCSA 2021 offers the possibility of online-only participation (with reduced registration fees). But we are also planning to offer the possibility of in-presence participation, should the pandemic situation allow it, by setting up a blended experience for mixed online/in-presence sessions. Computing services include, for example, storage, memory, compute power, databases, and networking among others. Unlike conventional distributed computing, cloud offers flexibility, scalability, efficiency and elasticity in service provisioning. IoT is considered as an integral part of the future Internet. It is based on interoperable communication protocols in order to enable the interaction and integration of virtual as well as physical Things such as computers, smart devices, sensors, cars, refrigerators, food packages, medicines, etc. Things can be seamlessly integrated into the information network and interaction can be made through the provision of intelligent interfaces. In not so distant future, IoT will be forcing its way into every aspect of our lives and technologies including smart homes, smart cities, environment and nature, green energy, food, medicine, automotive, aerospace and aviation, telecommunication, and so on. IoT is generally characterized by real world and small Things, limited capacity, constrained devices and the consequential issues such as less reliability, security and privacy. Cloud computing on the other hand deals mainly with virtual world and has unlimited capabilities in terms of storage and processing power. Thus cloud and IoT are the main complementary aspects of the future Internet. IoT can benefit from the unlimited capabilities and resources of cloud computing. Similarly, cloud can benefit from IoT by extending its scope to deal with real world things in a more distributed and dynamic manner. The theme of this conference is to promote the state of the art in scientific and practical research of the IoT and cloud computing. Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Computer Science) (2 vacancies) (PR0311/18-19) The appointees will perform high-impact research, to teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to contribute to professional and institutional services. Collaboration with other faculty members in research and teaching is also expected.
