CMNA 2017 will be held in conjunction with the ICAIL 2017 (International Conference on AI and Law) conference, which is held in London, UK from 12 to 16 June 2017.
The series of workshops on Computational Models of Natural Argument is continuing to attract high quality submissions from researchers around the world since its inception in 2001.The workshop focuses on "natural" argumentation. Topics are as follows.
* The characteristics of “natural” arguments (e.g. ontological aspects, cognitive issues, legal aspects).
* The linguistic characteristics of natural argumentation, including discourse markers, sentence format, referring expressions, and style.
* The generation of natural argument
* Corpus argumentation results and techniques
* Argumentation mining
* Models of natural legal argument
* Rhetoric and affect: the role of emotions, personalities, etc. in argumentation.
* The roles of licentiousness and deceit and the ethical implications of implemented systems demonstrating such features.
* Natural argumentation in multi-agent systems.
* Methods to better convey the structure of complex argument, including representation and summarisation.
* Natural argumentation and media: visual arguments, multi-modal arguments, spoken arguments.
* Evaluative arguments and their application in AI systems (such as decision-support and advice-giving).
* The computational use of models from informal logic and argumentation theory.
* Computer supported collaborative argumentation, for pedagogy, e-democracy and public debate.
* Tools for interacting with structures of argument.
* Applications of argumentation based systems.

WSC TURNS 50: SIMULATION EVERYWHERE!
>From experimentation to theory; standards and advanced methodologies, modeling and simulation is continually pushing the envelope of the available technologies, as many sectors have growing needs to process, visualize, make readable, understand, and deploy complex models that use immense amounts of data. These players need to transform data into hypothesis building and critical decision-making, and to change their models in response to new hypotheses, usually involving multiple highly specialized experts working together in geographically distant areas.
After 50 years, we are now beyond Modeling and Simulation using Grid and Cloud computing, Web-based and distributed simulation and other recent technologies. We need to deal with computing power and storage in heterogeneous environments, resources virtualization; services consumed on demand (with minimal limitation for resource location), power issues, massive datasets. We face new challenges as we have ubiquitous processors that can process applications on demand.
WSC 2017 focus is on addressing how to achieve the goal of having Simulation Everywhere!

WSC 2067: What Are The Chances?
At the November 1967 "Conference on the Applications of Simulation Using GPSS" it seems unlikely that anyone was wondering if the conference would still be occupying a big hotel in 2017. Conferences persist for many reasons, but a technical conference like WSC has to remain relevant to users, vendors, researchers and consumers (not just hotels) to survive. If our kind of simulation vanished, then so (eventually) would WSC. What is required for simulation to "remain relevant" for the next 50 years? Without fear of having to answer for my crimes in 2067, I boldly speculate on what SHOULD matter for the next 10-20 years, if not the next 50, with a focus on our strength: dealing with uncertainty.

The Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM) develops robust models and designs, to solve the complex challenges of today’s networked society. TPM combines insights from the engineering sciences with insights from the humanities and the social sciences.
The Systems Engineering group within TBM focuses on the design of large-scale, distributed systems that enable and support participation in networked society. The Systems Engineering group is seeking to fill an open tenure-track position in the design of such large-scale, distributed systems, in particular with respect to understanding the dynamics of self-organisation and emergence (www.participatorysystems.org).
Job description
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in computer science, artificial intelligence, distributed simulation, or a related field, intrigued by interdisciplinary research in large-scale, socio-technical systems.
Examples of large-scale, distributed, socio-technical systems designed and studied within the Systems Engineering group include distributed energy markets, supply-demand networks, international food chain management, crisis management, health systems, and systems designed to support citizen participation. This position extends our current research portfolio to focus on the design of dynamic, multi-agent systems – design, development, simulation, and application in practice.

• a strong background in (multi-agent) system design, simulation, and development;
• a PhD in Computer Science, Multi-Agent Systems, Artificial Intelligence or a related field;
• excellent scientific credentials;
• strong appreciation for, experience with, and ability to work in an academic, interdisciplinary environment with both social scientists and computer scientists;
• demonstrated didactic qualities and experience in interdisciplinary educational programmes;
• experience in attracting external funding;
• a strong (international) network within academic, industrial, and national and international governmental organisations.

The 12th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (“ARES”) will bring together researchers and practitioners in the area of dependability. ARES will highlight the various aspects of security - with special focus on the crucial linkage between availability, reliability and security.
ARES aims at a full and detailed discussion of the research issues of security as an integrative concept that covers amongst others availability, safety, confidentiality, integrity, maintainability and security in the different fields of applications.
ARES will emphasize the interplay between foundations and practical issues of security in emerging areas such as e-government, m-government, location-based applications, ubiquitous computing, autonomous computing, chances of grid computing etc. ARES is devoted to the critical examination and research challenges of the various aspects of Secure and Dependable Computing and the definition of a future road map.
Selected papers that are accepted by and presented at the ARES Conference will be published, after further revision, in special issues of international journals. The acceptance rate of the ARES 2016 conference was 24,42% (full papers only). The ARES conferences have been published by Conference Publishing Services (CPS).

ARES 2017 will be published by the International Conference Proceedings Series published by ACM (ACM ICPS). Authors of selected papers that are accepted by and presented at the ARES Conference (including workshops) will be invited to submit an extended version to special issues of international journals.
Authors are invited to submit research and application papers according the following guidelines: two columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 pt fonts and number each page.
For the main conference as well as the workshops submission papers are classified into 3 categorizes representing original, previously unpublished work:
-full paper (10 pages)
-short paper (6 pages)
-workshop paper (8 pages, a maximum of 10 pages is tolerated)
Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, presentation and clarity of exposition.
Simultaneous submission of the same work to multiple venues, submission of previously published work, or plagiarism constitutes dishonesty or fraud. ARES, like other scientific and technical conferences and journals, prohibits these practices and may take action against authors who have committed them.
Double blind review: ARES requires anonymized submissions – please make sure that submitted papers contain no author names or obvious self-references.

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
Parallel and Distributed Computing (PDC) is nowadays omnipresent. It is in all
the computational environments, from mobile devices, laptops and desktops to
clusters, large-scale data centers and supercomputers, often comprising CPUs
and/or coprocessors of different types (GPU, MIC, FPGA). It becomes now vital
to train new generations of scientists and engineers in the use of these
computational systems: parallelism-related topics must be incorporated in
Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE) programs.
In this context, the 3rd European Workshop on Parallel and Distributed
Computing Education for Undergraduate Students (Euro-EDUPAR) invites
unpublished manuscripts from individuals or teams from academia, industry, and
other educational and/or research institutes on topics pertaining to the
teaching of PDC topics in the Computer Science and Engineering curriculum as
well as in Computational Science with PDC and/or High Performance Computing
(HPC) concepts, with emphasis on European undergraduate teaching.
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Parallel and Distributed Computing (PDC) teaching in the European space
2. Pedagogical issues in PDC, educational methods and learning mechanisms
3. Novel ways of teaching PDC topics, including informal learning environments
4. Curriculum design, models for incorporating PDC topics in core CS/CE curriculum
5. Experience with incorporating PDC topics into core CS/CE courses
6. Experience with incorporating PDC topics in the context of other applications learning
7. Pedagogical tools, programming environments, and languages for PDC
8. e-Learning, e-Laboratory, online courses related to PDC
9. PDC teaching experiences at non-university levels: secondary school, industry, etc
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The submissions will follow the Euro-Par guidelines, in PDF format, and should
not exceed 12 pages in the Springer LNCS style, which can be downloaded from
the Springer Web site. Paper submission is handled electronically (EasyChair).
The 12-page limit is comprehensive (text, figures, references). Complete LaTeX
sources must be provided for accepted papers. Short papers and work-in-progress
papers can be submitted and presented at the workshop, but they will not be
eligible for the post-conference proceedings. Submissions will be reviewed by
at least 3 members of the Program Committee and will be assessed according to
impact at European level, the novelty of contributions, impact on broader
undergraduate curriculum, relevance to the goals of the workshop, results and
methodology.
The workshop proceedings will be published in a LNCS Euro-Par 2017 Workshops
volume after the conference. Only full papers between 10 and 12 pages presented
at the workshop will be included.

Symposium started in 1990 and has been held in several European

Paper Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be made through EasyChair at:

Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have
been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a
conference/workshop with proceedings. The symposium proceedings will be
published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series
(LNCS).
All submissions should follow the LNCS template from the time they are
submitted. Submitted papers should be at most 16 pages (using 10-point
font), excluding the bibliography and well-marked appendices, and at
most 20 pages total. Committee members are not required to read the
appendices, so the paper should be intelligible without them. All
submissions must be written in English. Submissions are to be made to
the Submission web site. Only pdf files will be accepted.
Submissions not meeting these guidelines risk rejection without
consideration of their merits. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee
that their papers will be presented at the conference.
Papers must be received by the aforementioned dates, 11:59 p.m. American
Samoa time (UTC-11).

Overview:
Resilience is a critical challenge as high performance computing (HPC)
systems continue to increase component counts, individual component
reliability decreases (such as due to shrinking process technology and
near-threshold voltage (NTV) operation), and software complexity increases.
Application correctness and execution efficiency, in spite of frequent
faults, errors, and failures, is essential to ensure the success of the
extreme-scale HPC systems, cluster computing environments, Grid computing
infrastructures, and Cloud computing services.
While a fault (e.g., a bug or stuck bit) is the cause of an error, its
manifestation as a state change is considered an error (e.g., a bad value
or incorrect execution), and the transition to an incorrect service is
observed as a failure (e.g., an application abort or system crash). A
failure in a computing system is typically observed through an application
abort or a full/partial service or system outage. A detectable correctable
error is often transparently handled by hardware, such as a single bit flip
in memory that is protected with single-error correction double-error
detection (SECDED) error correcting code (ECC). A detectable uncorrectable
error (DUE) typically results in a failure, such as multiple bit flips in
the same addressable word that escape SECDED ECC correction, but not
detection, and ultimately cause an application abort. An undetectable error
(UE) may result in silent data corruption (SDC), e.g., an incorrect
application output. There are many other types of hardware and software
faults, errors, and failures in computing systems.
Resilience for HPC systems encompasses a wide spectrum of fundamental and
applied research and development, including theoretical foundations, fault
detection and prediction, monitoring and control, end-to-end data integrity,
enabling infrastructure, and resilient solvers and algorithm-based fault
tolerance. This workshop brings together experts in the community to further
research and development in HPC resilience and to facilitate exchanges
across the computational paradigms of extreme-scale HPC, cluster computing,
Grid computing, and Cloud computing.
Submission Guidelines:
Authors are invited to submit papers electronically in English in PDF
format. Submitted manuscripts should be structured as technical papers and
may not exceed 12 pages, including figures, tables and references, using
Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) format at
<http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0 <http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0>>. Submissions
should include abstract, key words and the e-mail address of the
corresponding author. Papers not conforming to these guidelines may be
returned without review. All manuscripts will be reviewed and will be
judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance,
quality of presentation, and interest and relevance to the conference
attendees. Submitted papers must represent original unpublished research
that is not currently under review for any other conference or journal.
Papers not following these guidelines will be rejected without review and
further action may be taken, including (but not limited to) notifications
sent to the heads of the institutions of the authors and sponsors of the
conference. Submissions received after the due date, exceeding length limit,
or not appropriately structured may also not be considered. The proceedings
will be published in Springer's LNCS as post-conference proceedings. At
least one author of an accepted paper must register for and attend the
workshop for inclusion in the proceedings. Authors may contact the workshop
program chairs for more information.
