Submission deadline: March 26, 2023 About the Workshop and Topics Software Engineering Processes and Applications (SEPA: 2023) is aimed to provide a forum to scientists/researchers/engineers/practitioners and academicians to share their ideas, experiences, and research in the field of software engineering processes and applications. SEPA 2023 covers all the frontier issues and trends in modern software development processes. It includes process models, the development processes for different software platforms (e.g., social networks, cloud), a process for adaptive, dependable, embedded systems, agile development, software engineering practices, requirements, system, and design engineering including architectural design, component-level design, formal methods, software modeling, testing strategies and tactics, process and product metrics, Web Engineering, project management, risk management, and configuration management. SEPA also invites papers for the development process of the software/software systems in application areas e.g. agriculture, aviation industry, business, cyber-crime, education, government, military, etc. SEPA invites you to submit theme papers that describe original and significant contributions in all the above-mentioned areas of software engineering processes. The paper submitted to SEPA 2023 must not be submitted elsewhere, either in a conference or journal, and should be 12 - 16 pages (LNCS style). Papers selected after peer review will be included in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science published by Springer (only after completing the registration) and presented online. Please consider to submit your paper: Special Issue on Industrial IoT networks to support future Cloud-to-Things applications – Ad Hoc Networks, Elsevier – The Cloud-to-Things (C2T) continuum is a novel paradigm that extends the cloud-computing centralized architecture by introducing intermediate computing layers to host industrial applications and services with stringent requirements in terms of latency and reliability in the communication with IoT devices and sensors. Recent network architectures that support the integration of IoT devices into existing networks, like 6TiSCH or 5G/6G, include by design support for strict Quality of Service (QoS) communication requirements to ensure timed and reliable data delivery between applications and IoT devices. The deployment and management of the C2T multi-tier computing infrastructure connected with industrial IoT via heterogeneous communication technologies on a large-scale will require innovative approaches to guarantee QoS application requirements by enabling the convergence between computing and networking. [apologies for cross-postings] The Workshop on Virtualization in High-Performance Cloud Computing (VHPC) <https://vhpc.org/> is an international forum bringing together researchers and industrial practitioners facing the challenges posed by virtualization in HPC/Cloud scenarios, in order to foster discussion, collaboration, mutual exchange of knowledge and experience, enabling research to ultimately provide novel solutions for virtualized computing systems of tomorrow. The 18th edition of VHPC will be held on May 25th, 2023, jointly with the ISC High-Performance 2023 <https://www.isc-hpc.com/> conference and exhibition in Hamburg (Germany), and it welcomes contributions on the research topics detailed below. Paper submissions are due on April 19th. Accepted papers will be published on Springer LNCS series, and indexed by Scopus, among others. Workshop Overview Containers and virtualization technologies constitute key enabling factors for flexible resource management in modern data centers, and particularly in cloud environments. Cloud providers need to seamlessly manage complex infrastructures, to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for many virtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. I/O virtualization, in turn, allows physical network interfaces to exchange traffic with multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays independently from the underlying physical topology, is another fundamental enabling technology for Cloud/HPC infrastructures. Last, storage virtualization needs to evolve to support increasingly demanding requirements in terms of performance and reliability for the managed application data. *Topics of Interest* The VHPC program committee solicits original, high-quality submissions related to virtualization across the entire software stack with a special focus on the intersection of HPC, containers-virtualization and cloud computing, focusing on the following major topics: * HPC on Containers and VMs; * Containerized applications with OS-level virtualization; * Lightweight applications with Unikernels; * HPC-as-a-Service. Dear All: The 24th IEEE International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Scientific and Engineering Computing (PDSEC-23) (http://www.ieee-tcsc.org/2023/pdsec/) will be held on May 19, 2023 in St. Petersburg, Florida in conjunction with IPDPS 2023. Deadline: PDSEC-23 deadline: 15 Jan 2023 (AoE) Scope and Interests: The technological trends in HPC system evolution indicates an increasing burden placed on application developers due to the management of the unprecedented complexity levels of hardware and its associated performance characteristics. Many existing scientific applications codes are unlikely to perform well on future systems without major modifications or even complete rewrites. In the future, it will be necessary to utilize, in concert, many characteristics such as multiple levels of parallelism, many lightweight cores, complex memory hierarchies, novel I/O technology, power capping, system-wide temporal/spatial performance heterogeneity and reliability concerns. The parallel and distributed computing (PDC) community has developed new programming models, algorithms, libraries and tools to meet these challenges in order to accommodate productive code development and effective system use. However, the scientific application community still needs to identify the benefit through practical evaluations. Thus, the focus of this workshop is on methodologies and experiences used in scientific and engineering applications and algorithms to achieve sustainable code development for better productivity, application performance and reliability. ================================================================= AMPM 2022: 2nd Workshop in Agent-based Modeling & Policy-Making ================================================================= in conjunction with JURIX 2022, the 35th International Conference on Legal Knowledge and Information Systems. Workshop date: December 14th, 2022, Saarbrücken, Germany (the workshop will be conducted as a hybrid event). Deadline for submission: November 4th, 2022. Motivation ----------------- Global financial and economic crises, critical technological dependencies, pandemics, and climate change have cast serious doubts on the adequacy of conventional policy-making and law-making to consider mechanisms underlying social and economic phenomena. From their original application in engineering and science, computational models are increasingly being used to guide decisions by studying their potential consequences prior to making them. They are proposed as a tool for evidence-based policy-making in a diverse set of contexts: public health, ecology, labour markets, urban planning, social security, crime mitigation, economic development, platform economy and techno-regulation. Motivated by such widespread deployment, work on using computational models beyond executive policies and towards law-making — i.e. beyond operational guidance and towards regulation circumscribing the space in which policies can operate — is gaining momentum. Existing computational approaches to policy and normative design are known to face persisting complementary challenges: formal validity; effectiveness; efficiency; sustainability, etc. Several disciplines have focused on distinct aspects of these dimensions (e.g. computational legal theory, game theory, control systems design, dynamic systems, and system dynamics), offering alternative methodological standpoints and computational tools. Unfortunately, these specialized domains rarely interoperate and frequently contain troublesome assumptions such as overly simplistic fully observable static environments, static pay-off tables, static semantics, homogeneous agents that are perfectly rational and/or controllable. The resulting reduced views fail to take into account possible phenomena occurring at the boundaries between areas of concern. A crucial integrating role can be played by agent-based modelling (ABM). Based on an interactionist metaphor, agent-based models are an effective tool for understanding and reproducing the functioning and generation/emergence of complex macro-dynamics and constructs (shared knowledge, practices, protocols of interaction) at an aggregate level. Applied in social contexts, and particularly within the frame of computational social science (CSS), ABM lends itself to regulators and policymakers but also more widely to judges, attorneys, and legislators. Topics ----------------- AMPM is envisioned to be complementary to the traditional scope of computational social science, complex system research, and agent-based modeling, focusing on three main tracks: - models/theories going beyond policies, targeting normative and cognitive phenomena; - empirical methods, associated with the practice of ABM in policy and norm-making contexts; - better, dedicated tooling, such as computational methods, languages, and interfaces. In perspective, the workshop creates space for the ABM call for a “computation-enhanced regulatory empiricism”, exploiting computation to investigate factual underpinnings of the legal phenomenon, like the intricate networks of cognitive, social, technological, and legal mechanisms through which law emerges, is applied, and exerts its effects. Scope ----------------- The workshop aims to attract participants from various disciplines, and to be of interest to anyone working with the domain of governance of large-scale self-adaptive systems (human, computational, or natural): policy-making and normative design, governance, (computational) social science, (computational) legal theory, (computational) economics, autonomic computing, techno-regulation, distributed systems, agent-based modelling, and complexity science. CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS The 23rd International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet Computing (CCGRID 2023)https://ccgrid2023.iisc.ac.in May 1 - 4, 2023, Bangalore, India The International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet Computing (CCGRID) invites proposals for workshops to be co-located with CCGRID 2023. Workshops provide a forum for discussion among researchers and practitioners on focused topics or emerging research areas relevant to the CCGRID community. Organizers may structure workshops as they see fit, including invited talks, panel discussions, presentations of works in progress, peer-reviewed short/full papers, or a combination of the above. Workshops are typically held on the first day of the conference (May 1, 2023) in parallel tracks, and are recommended to be scheduled for half a day (3 hours of technical program), but could be proposed for a full day (6 hours) depending on the interest and space constraints. Organizers should design workshops for approximately 20 to 40 participants, to balance impact and effective discussion. Peer-reviewed papers accepted by the workshops will be published in the CCGRIDW 2023 companion proceedings to be published online in the IEEE Explore digital library. Each paper must have at least two reviews to be eligible to appear in the proceedings. All authors and presented at the workshop should register for the CCGRID conference at the regular registration rates. One complimentary registration will be provided to a keynote speaker for each workshop. Submission Requirements Workshop proposals must be submitted in PDF format and should include: 1. The name and acronym of the workshop. 2. A brief description of why and to whom the workshop is of interest, and how it is aligned with/complements the topics of CCGRID. 3. The names, affiliation, emails, and short bio (up to 10 lines) of the workshop organizers and program committee chairs, and their prior experience with organizing workshops/conferences. 4. a list of potential program committee members. 5. The 38th edition of Top50 of the CIS's most powerful computers will be announced on the first day of the conference. There are three categories of submissions: * Full paper describes the results of completed scientific research (12 to 15 pages in the LNCS one-column page format). * Short paper reports preliminary results of uncompleted scientific research (up to 12 pages in the LNCS one-column page format). * Abstract of the poster contains information about plans and initial results of recently started scientific research (one standard A4 page). Papers may be prepared in LaTeX or MS Word according to the LNCS one-column page format (see guidelines at the conference website http://agora.guru.ru/pavt2023/, "For Authors" section).
