The ADFSL Conference on Digital Forensics, Security and Law is the official annual conference of the ADFSL, the Association of Digital Forensics Security and Law. The Conference is a unique and innovative event organized and managed by the Association of Digital Forensics, Security and Law (ADFSL). The first annual conference of the ADFSL Conference on Digital Forensics, Security and Law was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on April 20-21, 2006. The conference was created on the premise that digital forensics goes beyond digital evidence. Two Research Fellow Positions at NTU Singapore on Green Data Center

Two Research Fellow positions with competitive remuneration are immediately available at School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The positions are part of a research project under Singapore’s strategic Green Data Center Program that aims at improving data center energy efficiency. The project will unprecedentedly provide full access to a newly built data center testbed that hosts nearly 100 servers, with system faults, failures, and server hardware damage allowed. Through extensive experimentation and data analytics, the research will explore basic relationships among server workload, computing performance, hardware component reliability, thermal condition, air flows, and etc under Singapore’s tropic environment condition. The results will provide basis for stipulating new construction and operation guidelines for Singapore's data center industry. The candidate should have obtained a PhD degree in computer science/engineering (or relevant disciplines) and demonstrated strong research ability by publications on venues in the areas of cyber-physical systems (CPS) and data analytics. The Second International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Data Mining (WPDM 2018) CALL FOR PAPERS As part of The 18th International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications (ICCSA 2018), http://www.iccsa.org July 2 - 5 2018, Melbourne, Australia Submission Deadline: January 28, 2018 SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES The Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Data Mining is an international forum which brings together researchers and practitioners working on different high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms, enabling novel applications. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Special Issue on Parallel and Distributed Data Mining Information Sciences, Elsevier Submission deadline: February 1st, 2018 The sheer volume of new data, which is being generated at an increasingly fast pace, has already produced an anticipated data deluge that is difficult to challenge. We are in the presence of an overwhelming vast quantity of data, owing to how easy is to produce or derive digital data. Even the storage of this massive amount of data is becoming a highly demanding task, outpacing the current development of hardware and software infrastructure. Nonetheless, this effort must be undertaken now for the preservation, organization and long-term maintenance of these precious data. However, the collected data is useless without our ability fully understand and make use of it. Therefore, we need new algorithms to address this challenge. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. This Special Issue takes into account the increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel and distributed data mining algorithms. Parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators available on parallel computers. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. Moreover, increasingly the data is spread among different geographically distributed sites. Centralized processing of this data is very inefficient and expensive. In some cases, it may even be impractical and subject to security risks. Therefore, processing the data minimizing the amount of data being exchanged whilst guaranteeing at the same time correctness and efficiency is an extremely important challenge. Distributed data mining performs data analysis and mining in a fundamentally distributed manner paying careful attention to resource constraints, in particular bandwidth limitation, privacy concerns and computing power. The focus of this Special Issue is on all forms of advances in high-performance and distributed data mining algorithms and applications. Aligned with the general trend of migrating traditional IT architectures to clouds (public or private), next generation of telecommunication networks such as 5G are also envisaged to be run on virtualized environments where network functions are deployed on virtual machines and/or containers instead of current proprietary equipment. Several proof-of-concept and initial industrial deployments proved that Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are two promising technologies to enable such technological shift. Nevertheless, how to optimize and guarantee the performance of such virtualized systems is still challenging, because they require accurate modelling and efficient optimization to satisfy ever increasing demand of future networks. To address several major issues raised by migrating network applications to virtualized infrastructures, this special issue aims to highlight challenges, state-of-the-art, and solutions to a set of currently unresolved key questions including, but not limited to: performance, modelling, optimizations, reliability, security, and techno-economic aspects of virtualized networks. By addressing these concerns, technology might be one step closer to understanding, and consequently, closing the gap between the performance of the next generation SDN/NFV-based networks and their current counterparts in proprietary boxes. In this special issue, we welcome contributions that can shed light onto any of the following questions: 1. How virtualized networks should be designed to guarantee the performance required by network operations? 2. How virtualized services can be benchmarked and/or compared? 3. Special Issue on Parallel and Distributed Data Mining Information Sciences, Elsevier Submission deadline: February 1th, 2018 The sheer volume of new data, which is being generated at an increasingly fast pace, has already produced an anticipated data deluge that is difficult to challenge. We are in the presence of an overwhelming vast quantity of data, owing to how easy is to produce or derive digital data. Even the storage of this massive amount of data is becoming a highly demanding task, outpacing the current development of hardware and software infrastructure. Nonetheless, this effort must be undertaken now for the preservation, organization and long-term maintenance of these precious data. However, the collected data is useless without our ability fully understand and make use of it. Therefore, we need new algorithms to address this challenge. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. This Special Issue takes into account the increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel and distributed data mining algorithms. Parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators available on parallel computers. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. Moreover, increasingly the data is spread among different geographically distributed sites. Centralized processing of this data is very inefficient and expensive. In some cases, it may even be impractical and subject to security risks. Therefore, processing the data minimizing the amount of data being exchanged whilst guaranteeing at the same time correctness and efficiency is an extremely important challenge. Distributed data mining performs data analysis and mining in a fundamentally distributed manner paying careful attention to resource constraints, in particular bandwidth limitation, privacy concerns and computing power. The focus of this Special Issue is on all forms of advances in high-performance and distributed data mining algorithms and applications. The topics relevant to the Special Issue include (but are not limited to) the following. International Workshop on Benchmarking of Computational Intelligence Algorithms (BOCIA) at the Tenth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI 2018) March 29-31, 2018 in Xiamen, China http://iao.hfuu.edu.cn/bocia18 BOCIA, the International Workshop on Benchmarking of Computational Intelligence Algorithms, a part of the Tenth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI 2018), is cordially inviting the submission of original and unpublished research papers. Computational Intelligence (CI) is a huge and expanding field which is rapidly gaining importance, attracting more and more interests from both academia and industry. It includes a wide and ever-growing variety of optimization and machine learning algorithms, which, in turn, are applied to an even wider and faster growing range of different problem domains. For all of these domains and application scenarios, we want to pick the best algorithms. Actually, we want to do more, we want to improve upon the best algorithm. This requires a deep understanding of the problem at hand, the performance of the algorithms we have for that problem, the features that make instances of the problem hard for these algorithms, and the parameter settings for which the algorithms perform the best. Such knowledge can only be obtained empirically, by collecting data from experiments, by analyzing this data statistically, and by mining new information from it. Benchmarking is the engine driving research in the fields of optimization and machine learning for decades, while its potential has not been fully explored. Benchmarking the algorithms of Computational Intelligence is an application of Computational Intelligence itself! This workshop wants to bring together experts on benchmarking of optimization and machine learning algorithms. It provides a common forum for them to exchange findings and to explore new paradigms for performance comparison. All accepted papers in this workshop will be included in the Proceedings of the IEEE ICACI 2018 published by IEEE Press and indexed by EI. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions of these papers to the Special Issue on Benchmarking of Computational Intelligence Algorithms appearing in the Computational Intelligence journal by Wiley Periodicals Inc., indexed by EI and SCI (see the end of this CfP, http://iao.hfuu.edu.cn/bocia-ci-si, and http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1467-8640). 1. Chair Biographies Prof. Dr. Thomas Weise obtained the MSc in Computer Science in 2005 from the Chemnitz University of Technology and his PhD from the University of Kassel in 2009. He then joined the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) as PostDoc and subsequently became Associate Professor at the USTC-Birmingham Joint Research Institute in Intelligent Computation and Its Applications (UBRI) at USTC. In 2016, he joined Hefei University as Full Professor to found the Institute of Applied Optimization at the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology. Prof. Weise has more than seven years of experience as a full time researcher in China, having contributed significantly both to fundamental as well as applied research. He has more than 80 scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals and conferences. His book "Global Optimization Algorithms – Theory and Application" has been cited more than 730 times. He has acted as reviewer, editor, or programme committee member at 70 different venues. Prof. Dr. Bin Li received the B.S. degree from Hefei University of Technology, Hefei, China, in 1992, the M.Sc. degree from Institute of Plasma Physics, China Academy of Science, Hefei, China, in 1995, and the Ph.D. degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), China in 2001. He is currently a professor with the School of Information Science and Technology, USTC, Hefei, China. He has authored and co-authored more than 40 refereed publications. His major research interests include evolutionary computation, memetic algorithms, pattern recognition, and real-world applications. Dr. Li is the Founding Chair of IEEE CIS Hefei Chapter, Counselor of IEEE USTC Student Branch, senior member of Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE), member of the Technical Committee of Electronic Circuits and Systems Section of CIE. Dr. Markus Wagner is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer Science, University of Adelaide, Australia. He has done his PhD studies at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany and at the University of Adelaide, Australia. His research topics range from mathematical runtime analysis of heuristic optimization algorithms and theory-guided algorithm design to applications of heuristic methods to renewable energy production, professional team cycling and software engineering. So far, he has been a program committee member 30 times, and he has written over 70 articles with over 70 different co-authors. He has chaired several education-related committees within the IEEE CIS, is Co- Chair of ACALCI 2017 and General Chair of ACALCI 2018. Prof. Dr. Xingyi Zhang received the B.Sc. from Fuyang Normal College in 2003, and the M.Sc. in 2006 and Ph.D. in 2009 both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Currently, he is a professor in the School of Computer Science and Technology, Anhui University. His main research interests include unconventional models and algorithms of computation, multi-objective evolutionary optimization and membrane computing. He is the chair of 2017 Data Driven Optimization of Complex Systems and Applications and 2015 Asian Conference on Membrane Computing. He also serves as Editorial Board Member of Complex & Intelligent Systems and International Journal of Bio-inspired Computing. Prof. Dr. Jörg Lässig leads the Enterprise Application Development Group (EAD) of the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz in Germany since 2011. He holds degrees in Computer Science, Computational Physics, and received a Ph.D. in Computer Science for his research on efficient algorithms and models for the generation and control of cooperation networks at Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany), which he finished in 2009. Prof. Lässig has PostDocs at the Università della Svizzera italiana, Institute of Computational Sciences (Lugano, Switzerland) and the International Computer Science Institute Berkeley (California, USA). His EAD research group at HSZG and his IT security group with the Fraunhofer Society are focusing on topics concerned with intelligent data driven technologies for state-of-the-art IT infrastructures and services. Deadline: PDSEC-18 papers are due Friday 25 Jan 2018 (AoE) Scope and Interests: The technological trends of HPC system evolution indicates increasing burden for application developers in management of the unprecedented levels of complexity in hardware and the associated performance characteristics. Many existing application codes are unlikely to perform well on future systems without major modifications or even complete rewrites. It will be important to utilize, in unison, many characteristics such as multiple levels of parallelism, many lightweight cores, complex memory hierarchies, novel I/O technology, power capping, system-wide temporal/spatial performance heterogeneity and reliability concerns. The HPC community has developed new programming models, algorithms, libraries and tools to meet these challenges in order to accommodate productive code development and effective system use. However, the application community still needs to identify the benefit through practical evaluations. Thus, the focus of this workshop is on methodologies and experiences of scientific and engineering applications and algorithms to achieve sustainable code development for better productivity, application performance and reliability. In particular, we will focus on the following topics in parallel and distributed scientific and engineering applications, but not limited to: * Code modernization methodologies and experiences for adapting the changes in future computing systems such as porting of legacy simulation code and libraries/tools to facilitate code refactoring and porting. * Application and algorithm development of various parallel and distributed programming models/framework such as CAF, UPC, Chapel, X10, Charm++, HPX, Uintah, Legion, and/or the interoperation of multiple models within single applications (e.g. MPI+X where X is OpenMP, OpenCL, CUDA etc). We appreciate the experiences of early adopters of new programming models and platforms. * Experience in new tools and libraries for effective application development, including performance tools, application development frameworks, Domain Specific Languages (DSLs), etc. * Tools and techniques for improving application reliability and resilience. As special sessions chairs we would like to invite you to organize a special session at EUSIPCO 2018, on an emerging topic of your interest. If you can accept this invitation please let us know the topic of your proposal. A maximum of two extra pages may be purchased. 2) Industrial Papers and Practitioner Reports: Papers describing experiences of using ORC technology in application or tool development projects, are an integral part of the technical program of ISORC. A majority of these papers are expected to be shorter and less formal than research papers. They should clearly identify and discuss in detail the issues that represent notable industrial advances. Special Issue on Parallel and Distributed Data Mining Information Sciences, Elsevier The sheer volume of new data, which is being generated at an increasingly fast pace, has already produced an anticipated data deluge that is difficult to challenge. We are in the presence of an overwhelming vast quantity of data, owing to how easy is to produce or derive digital data. Even the storage of this massive amount of data is becoming a highly demanding task, outpacing the current development of hardware and software infrastructure. Nonetheless, this effort must be undertaken now for the preservation, organization and long-term maintenance of these precious data. However, the collected data is useless without our ability fully understand and make use of it. Therefore, we need new algorithms to address this challenge. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. This Special Issue takes into account the increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel and distributed data mining algorithms. Parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators available on parallel computers. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. Moreover, increasingly the data is spread among different geographically distributed sites. Centralized processing of this data is very inefficient and expensive. In some cases, it may even be impractical and subject to security risks. Therefore, processing the data minimizing the amount of data being exchanged whilst guaranteeing at the same time correctness and efficiency is an extremely important challenge. Distributed data mining performs data analysis and mining in a fundamentally distributed manner paying careful attention to resource constraints, in particular bandwidth limitation, privacy concerns and computing power. The focus of this Special Issue is on all forms of advances in high-performance and distributed data mining algorithms and applications. The topics relevant to the Special Issue include (but are not limited to) the following. While inherently parallel, they exhibit highly variable execution performance at a local level due to unpredictable memory access patterns and/or network transfers, divergent control structures, and data imbalances. Moreover, they often require fine-grain synchronization and communication on large-data structures such as graphs, trees, unstructured grids, tables, sparse matrices, deep nets, and their combinations (such as, for example, attributed graphs). They have a significant degree of latent parallelism, which however is difficult to exploit due to their complex behavior. Current high performance architectures rely on data locality and regular computation to reduce access latencies, and often do not cope well with the requirements of these applications. Furthermore, irregular applications are difficult to scale on current supercomputing machines, due to their limits in fine-grained synchronization and small data transfers. Irregular applications pertain both to well established and emerging fields, such as machine learning, social network analysis, bioinformatics, semantic graph databases, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and computer security. Many of these application areas also process massive sets of unstructured data, which keep growing exponentially. Addressing the issues of irregular applications on current and future architectures will become critical to solve the challenges in science and data analysis of the next few years. The appointees will be provided with a conducive research environment, and will work within an established group of faculty in the Department. They are also expected to perform group-based high-impact research and to undertake some teaching duties. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, and sufficiently demonstrate abilities to conduct high-quality research in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (computational algorithms and/or infrastructures) and their applications. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. This Ada DevRoom is once more organized in cooperation with Ada-Europe [2]. General Information ------------------- FOSDEM [3], the Free and Open source Software Developers' European Meeting, is a free and non-commercial two-day weekend event organized early each year in Brussels, Belgium. It is highly developer-oriented and brings together 8000+ participants from all over the world. No registration is necessary. The goal is to provide open source developers and communities a place to meet with other developers and projects, to be informed about the latest developments in the open source world, to attend interesting talks and presentations on various topics by open source project leaders and committers, and to promote the development and the benefits of open source solutions. Ada Programming Language and Technology --------------------------------------- Awareness of safety and security issues in software systems is increasing. Multi-core platforms are now abundant. These are some of the reasons that the Ada programming language and technology attracts more and more attention, among others due to Ada's support for programming by contract and for multi-core targets. The Ada 2012 language definition was approved and published by ISO in December 2012, updated early 2016, and work on new features for the next revision is ongoing. More and more tools are available, many are open source, including for small and recent platforms. Interest keeps increasing, also in the open source community, and many exciting projects started. Ada Developer Room ------------------ FOSDEM is an ideal fit for Ada developers to meet. On the one hand, it gives the general open source community an opportunity to see what is happening in the Ada community and how Ada technology can help to produce reliable and efficient open source software. On the other hand, it gives open source Ada projects an opportunity to present themselves, get feedback and ideas, and attract participants to their project and collaboration between projects. At previous FOSDEM events, Ada-Belgium has organized very well attended Ada Developer Rooms, offering a full day program in 2006 [4], a two-day program in 2009 [5], and full day programs in 2012 [6], 2013 [7], 2014 [8], 2015 [9], and 2016 [10]. An important goal is to present exciting Ada technology and projects also to people outside the traditional Ada community. Our proposal for another dedicated Ada DevRoom was accepted, and now work continues to prepare the detailed program. We most probably will have a total of 8 schedulable hours between 11:00 and 19:00 in a room which accommodates 76 participants. More information will be posted on the dedicated web-page on the Ada-Belgium site [11], and final announcements will of course also be sent to various forums, lists and newsgroups. Call for Presentations ---------------------- We would like to schedule technical presentations, tutorials, demos, live performances, project status reports, discussions, etc, in the Ada Developer Room. Ada-Belgium calls on you to: - inform us at ada-belgium-board(a)cs.kuleuven.be about specific presentations you would like to hear in this Ada DevRoom; - for bonus points, subscribe to the Ada-FOSDEM mailing list [12] to discuss and help organize the details; - for more bonus points, be a speaker: the Ada-FOSDEM mailing list is the place to be! Do you have a talk you want to give? Do you have a project you would like to present? Would you like to get more people involved with your project? We're inviting proposals that are related to Ada software development, and include a technical oriented discussion. You're not limited to slide presentations, of course. Be creative. Propose something fun to share with people so they might feel some of your enthusiasm for Ada! Speaking slots are 20 or 45 minutes, plus 5 minutes for Q&A. Depending on interest, we might also have a session with lightning presentations (e.g. 5 minutes each). Note that all talks will be streamed live (audio+video) and recorded, for remote as well as later viewing of talks, and so that people can watch streams in the hallways when rooms are full. By submitting a proposal, you agree to being recorded and streamed, and agree the content of your talk will be published under the same license as all FOSDEM content, a Creative Commons (CC-BY) license. However, in order to continue a performance increase, a further evolutionary step is currently ongoing by moving away from common multicores towards innovative heterogeneous many-core architectures with deep memory hierarchies on a large scale. Such systems, equipped with a significantly higher number of cores per chip than multicores, pose challenges in both hardware and software design. On the hardware side, complex on-chip networks, scratchpads, hybrid memory cubes, non-volatile memory and stacked memory, as well as deep cache-hierarchies and novel cache-coherence strategies currently enrich the respective research areas. However, the ROME workshop focuses on the software side because without complying system software, runtime and operating system support, all these new hardware facilities cannot be exploited. Hence, the challenges in hardware/software co-design are to step beyond traditional approaches and to venture new approaches for runtime, middleware and operating system designs in order to exploit the theoretically available performance of upcoming hardware features as effectively and energy-consciously as possible. In addition, there is currently a strong trend to converge the areas of cloud and high-performance computing. Classical cloud techniques will soon be used in the area of high-performance computing and vise-versa. Projects and frameworks have already proven the benefits of OS-level virtualization for high-performance computing, whereas high-performance interconnects are able to accelerate cloud applications, too. Moreover, customized operating systems, hypervisors and unikernels are likely to leverage the efficient employment of virtualization on a broad scale. Topics ------ Authors from all related disciplines are invited to submit unpublished papers regarding their work on many-core related software research regarding operating systems and runtime environments in the area of cloud and high-performance computing. Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is a young university which was established in collaboration with MIT. iTrust is a Cyber Security Research Center with about 15 multi-discipline faculty members from SUTD. It has the world’s best facilities in cyber-physical systems (CPS) including testbeds for Secure Water Treatment (SWaT), Water Distribution (WADI), Electric Power and Intelligent Control (EPIC), and IoT (See more info at https://itrust.sutd.edu.sg/research/testbeds/) I am looking for PhD interns with interest in cyber-physical system security (IoT, autonomous vehicle, and power grid etc.), especially on the topics such as 1) Lightweight and low-latency crypto algorithms for CPS devices, 2) Resilient authentication of devices and data in CPS, 3) Advanced SCADA firewall to filter more sophisticated attacking packets in CPS, 4) Big data based threat analytics for detection of both known and unknown threats, 5) Attack mitigation to increase the resilience of CPS. * Max Planck Postdoctoral Fellowship for Excellent Women in Computer Science Every second year the Max Planck Institute for Informatics awards the Lise Meitner Award Fellowship. This postdoctoral grant supports excellent female computer scientists in their careers, giving them the opportunity to develop their scientific ideas without exertion of influence. It consists of a two-year tax-free research fellowship and business expenses. Fellows will be chosen based on the strength of their academic background and research credentials. Applications should include a CV, cover letter, publication list, short research plan (one page is enough), and two references. This grant is according to the fellowship rules of the Max Planck Society; it usually amounts to 3,000 Euro/month and is completed by compensation for business expenses of 10,000 Euro/year.
