CALL FOR PAPERS We are pleased to announce the 2nd International Conference on Automotive Composites. After the success of the first edition, ICAutoC 2016 will be held at the Azores, island of S. Miguel, Portugal, from October 22 to 25, 2018. ICAutoC Conference Series serve as an open forum to bring together and to disseminate knowledge between academics/researchers and industry practitioners. They are a forum for engineers and applied scientists engaged in composite materials within automotive vehicles to contribute to the field and to disseminate technical information. ICAutoC Conferences focus on advanced composites (FRPs, reinforced thermoplastics, carbon-based composites and many others) and how they are designed, processed and utilized in automotive vehicles. They include technical sessions on advanced composites in vehicle design/analysis and intend to cover all phases of composites design, analysis, modelling, testing, manufacturing and failure analysis. It is also expected to shed light on the performance of existing composites and future developments in automotive materials technology. The term, ‘automotive’, includes passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, vans, trucks, buses and recreational vehicles. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. The focus of the workshop is on all forms of advances in high-performance data mining algorithms and applications, and related topics. NFV virtualizes network services by utilizing virtualization technologies to reduce the dependency on underlying hardware. The Melbourne School of Engineering has 182 women academic staff, but this represents just 22 per cent of our total academic numbers. We are committed to remedying this imbalance and lifting the representation of women to 30 per cent by 2022. The scale of cloud computing data centers is similar to the supercomputers used in High Performance Computing. Both involve millions of CPU cores, tens of thousands of accelerators like GPUs, FPGAs connected by high speed interconnects and different connection topologies. Studies have shown that the GPU utilization in HPC is often at 50%. Virtualization can be the key to increasing resource utilization and managing massive infrastructures efficiently. GPU vendors have introduced virtualized versions of GPUs. FPGAs are being deployed in virtual infrastructure. These and other developments in the field, along with future exascale systems, will provide increasing degree of virtualization within the systems. The goal of this session is to be an opportunity to discuss and exchange research on the different virtualization technologies and how they can be efficiently applied in High Performance Computing. A special session is an embedded session in ATC 2018, focusing on a specific research topic relevant to the main conference. Each workshop will be expected to accept at least 6 papers. Each special session will be expected to accept 4-6 full-length papers.Workshop/special session organizers are responsible for forming program committees, circulating call for papers, organizing submissions and reviews as well as planning the final programs. ATC 2018 workshop/special session co-chairs will assist the workshop/special session organizers in organizing workshops/special sessions and ensure their quality and success. The registration fees for workshops/special sessions will be determined by the organizing committees of ATC 2018, which will provide workshop/special session facilities. Workshops/special sessions should strictly follow the important dates. The 25th Static Analysis Symposium, SAS 2018, will be held in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. The virtual machines will be archived on a permanent Static Analysis Symposium website to provide a record of past experiments and tools, allowing future research to better evaluate and contrast existing work. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. The focus of the workshop is on all forms of advances in high-performance data mining algorithms and applications, and related topics. The scale of cloud computing data centers is similar to the supercomputers used in High Performance Computing. Both involve millions of CPU cores, tens of thousands of accelerators like GPUs, FPGAs connected by high speed interconnects and different connection topologies. Studies have shown that the GPU utilization in HPC is often at 50%. Virtualization can be the key to increasing resource utilization and managing massive infrastructures efficiently. GPU vendors have introduced virtualized versions of GPUs. FPGAs are being deployed in virtual infrastructure. These and other developments in the field, along with future exascale systems, will provide increasing degree of virtualization within the systems. The goal of this session is to be an opportunity to discuss and exchange research on the different virtualization technologies and how they can be efficiently applied in High Performance Computing. Selection Hyper-heuristics operate by automatically choosing (low-level) heuristics from an existing heuristic set while the latter type focuses on generating heuristics from scratch based on predefined components. SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Authors are invited to submit a full paper not exceeding 8 pages formatted in the LNCS style (see below). Those accepted will be presented either orally or as posters. The decision about the presentation format will be based on the recommendation of the reviewers. The authors are asked to submit their papers using the on-line form accessible from the conference website. Papers submitted to TSD 2018 must not be under review by any other conference or publication during the TSD review cycle, and must not be previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere. As reviewing will be blind, the paper should not include the authors' names and affiliations. Furthermore, self-references that reveal the author's identity, e.g., "We previously showed (Smith, 1991) ...", should be avoided. Instead, use citations such as "Smith previously showed (Smith, 1991) ...". Papers that do not conform to the requirements above are subject to be rejected without review. The authors are strongly encouraged to write their papers in TeX or LaTeX formats. These formats are necessary for the final versions of the papers that will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes. Authors using a WORD compatible software for the final version must use the LNCS template for WORD and within the submit process ask the Proceedings Editors to convert the paper to LaTeX format. However, the results of this process drive the modern science and are vital for the community to draw sensible conclusions on the performance of applications and systems. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. The focus of the workshop is on all forms of advances in high-performance data mining algorithms and applications, and related topics. The studies on this field is mainly considered under two categories, namely Selection and Generation Hyper-heuristics. Selection Hyper-heuristics operate by automatically choosing (low-level) heuristics from an existing heuristic set while the latter type focuses on generating heuristics from scratch based on predefined components. This stream is expecting studies focusing on either of these hyper-heuristic types -offering different learning approaches, utilizing distinct (meta-) heuristic techniques while dealing with various problems. AmI environments are integrated by several autonomous computational devices of modern life ranging from consumer electronics to mobile phones. For example, many vulnerable IoT devices which have been infected with malware have subsequently become comprised into large botnets, resulting in devastating DDOS attacks. Consequently, ensuring the security of such IoT ecosystems – before, during, and after an attack takes place – is a crucial issue for our society at this moment. This special issue aims to collect contributions by leading-edge researchers from academia and industry, show the latest research results in the field of IoT security and privacy, and provide valuable information to researchers as well as practitioners, standards developers and policymakers. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. The focus of the workshop is on all forms of advances in high-performance data mining algorithms and applications, and related topics. Middleware technologies include tools to assemble together different resources such as parallel supercomputers, data archives, high-speed storage systems, advanced visualization devices and scientific instruments using high speed networks connecting geographically distributed devices and organizations. Many recent international efforts are actively fostering the development of such applications and technologies. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of algorithms and applications. The project in which the applicant will be integrated aims to solve challenging problems on global optimization in computational biology and bioinformatics through the proposal of new parallel metaheuristics and their implementation for cloud environments. OFFER The candidate will be provided with a one-year contract, extendable (based on the progress of the candidate) up to 3 years offering the chance to obtain a PhD qualification. This contract includes full social security coverage and a net salary competitive for living standards in a city as A Coruña (on the range 22000€-25000€). FULLY FUNDED PHD STUDENTSHIP in meta-heuristic optimisation and machine learning in the School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham, UK http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~xin/PhDAdvert.html A fully-funded PhD studentship is available at CERCIA (the Centre of Excellence for Research in Computational Intelligence and Applications), School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham, UK. The successful candidate will work in the areas of nonlinear optimisation, especially meta-heuristic optimisation (evolutionary optimisation), and machine learning. In particular, the PhD project will study novel learning algorithms for enhancing meta-heuristic optimisation algorithms. The key research issues include the conservation, abstraction and modelling of experience gained from optimising one problem instance and the smart integration of such experience/knowledge in solving related problem instances. The main research challenges include: the representation of experience; the mapping/transfer of the problem-solving experience across problem instances; the incorporation of transferred experience into solving the current problem instance at hand. We are looking for candidates who have an excellent MSc or BSc/BEng degree in computer science or a closely related area. We offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work both within the academic environment (University of Birmingham) and in an industrial setting (Honda Research Institute Europe), providing an excellent training for future careers in either academia or industry. FUNDING: The PhD studentship is for three-years, covering all tuition fees and GBP14,777 per year tax-free living stipends. Additional funding is available for conference travels. Data mining techniques and algorithms to process huge amount of data in order to extract useful and interesting information have become popular in many different contexts. Algorithms are required to make sense of data automatically and in efficient ways. Nonetheless, even though sequential computer systems performance is improving, they are not suitable to keep up with the increase in the demand for data mining applications and the data size. Moreover, the main memory of sequential systems may not be enough to hold all the data related to current applications. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the design and implementation of parallel data mining algorithms. On parallel computers, by exploiting the vast aggregate main memory and processing power of processors and accelerators, parallel algorithms can easily address both the running time and memory requirement issues. Anyway, parallelizing existing algorithms in order to achieve good performance and scalability with regard to massive datasets is not trivial. Indeed, it is of paramount importance a good data organization and decomposition strategy in order to balance the workload while minimizing data dependences. Another concern is related to minimizing synchronization and communication overhead. Finally, I/O costs should be minimized as well. The Workshop will allow exchanging ideas and results related to on-going research, focusing on high-performance aspects of data mining algorithms and applications. Creating breakthrough parallel algorithms for high-performance data mining applications requires addressing several key computing problems which may lead to novel solutions and new insights in interdisciplinary applications. The focus of the workshop is on all forms of advances in high-performance data mining algorithms and applications, and related topics. CRYPTACUS 2018 Call for participation Training School on Cryptanalysis of Ubiquitous Computing Systems Azores, Portugal Monday April 16 - Friday April 20, 2018 Organized by the CRYPTACUS COST Action (IC1403) https://www.cryptacus.eu/en/events/training-school-2018/ *Grants still available* Recent technological advances in hardware and software have irrevocably affected the classical picture of computing systems. Today, these no longer consist only of connected servers, but involve a wide range of pervasive and embedded devices, leading to the concept of "ubiquitous computing systems". To improve the security of these systems the existent cryptanalysis methodologies and tools need to be improved and adapted. This training school will focus on the assessment of theoretical and practical cryptographic mechanisms designed to ensure security and privacy, within four main axes: • cryptographic models; • cryptanalysis of building blocks; • hardware and software security engineering; • and security assessment of real-world systems. The training School will take place in the São Miguel island, Azores, Portugal. This training school aims at providing theoretical and practical lectures on topics related to security and cryptanalysis of ubiquitous computing systems.
