Saturday 1 February 2020, Brussels, Belgium
www.cs.kuleuven.be/~dirk/ada-belgium/events/20/200201-fosdem.html
Organized in cooperation with Ada-Europe
Deadline Monday 25 November 2019
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The 10th Ada Developer Room will take place on Saturday 1 February
2020 in Brussels, Belgium.
The Call for Presentations is still open: the deadline is Monday 25
November 2019.
Do you have a talk you want to give?
Do you have a project you would like to present?
Would you like to get more people involved with your project?
We're inviting proposals that are related to Ada software development,
and include a technical oriented discussion. You're not limited to
slide presentations, of course. Be creative. Propose something fun to
share with people so they might feel some of your enthusiasm for Ada!
An important goal is to present exciting Ada technology and projects
also to people outside the traditional Ada community.
Speaking slots are 15 or 45 minutes, plus 5 minutes for Q&A. Depending
on interest, we might also have a session with lightning presentations
(e.g. 5 minutes each), and/or an informal discussion session.
Please provide a proposed title, the preferred length, plus an abstract
and a short bio similar in style as on the program for previous Ada
DevRooms, see for example [1]. We need that to put the draft program
together by the end of November.
Please react ASAP, and submit proposals by November 25, 2019, or
contact us if you need more time.
We're looking forward to your proposals!
Dirk Craeynest

Call for Presentations
10th Ada Developer Room at FOSDEM 2020
Saturday 1 February 2020, Brussels, Belgium
http://www.cs.kuleuven.be/~dirk/ada-belgium/events/20/200201-fosdem.html
Organized in cooperation with Ada-Europe
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ada-Belgium [1] is pleased to announce there will be a one-day Ada
Developer Room on Saturday 1 February 2020 at FOSDEM 2020 in Brussels,
Belgium. Our 10th Ada DevRoom is once more organized in cooperation
with Ada-Europe [2].
General Information
-------------------
FOSDEM [3], the Free and Open source Software Developers' European
Meeting, is a free and non-commercial two-day weekend event organized
early each year in Brussels, Belgium. It is highly developer-oriented
and brings together 8000+ participants from all over the world.
No registration is necessary.
The goal is to provide open source developers and communities a
place to meet with other developers and projects, to be informed
about the latest developments in the open source world, to attend
interesting talks and presentations on various topics by open source
project leaders and committers, and to promote the development and
the benefits of open source solutions.
Ada Programming Language and Technology
---------------------------------------
Awareness of safety and security issues in software systems is
ever increasing. Multi-core platforms are now abundant. These are
some of the reasons that the Ada programming language and technology
attracts more and more attention, among others due to Ada's support for
programming by contract and for multi-core targets. The latest Ada
language definition was updated early 2016. Work on new features is
ongoing, such as improved support for fine-grained parallelism, and
will result in a new Ada standard scheduled for 2021. Ada-related
technology such as SPARK provides a solution for the safety and
security aspects stated above.
More and more tools are available, many are open source, including for
small and recent platforms. Interest in Ada keeps further increasing,
also in the open source community, and many exciting projects have
been started.
Ada Developer Room
------------------
FOSDEM is an ideal fit for an Ada Developer Room. On the one hand,
it gives the general open source community an opportunity to see what
is happening in the Ada community and how Ada technology can help to
produce reliable and efficient open source software. On the other
hand, it gives open source Ada projects an opportunity to present
themselves, get feedback and ideas, and attract participants to their
project and collaboration between projects.
At previous FOSDEM events, the Ada-Belgium non-profit organization
organized successful Ada Developer Rooms, offering a full day program
in 2006 [4], a two-day program in 2009 [5], and full day programs
in 2012-2016 [6-10], and in 2018-2019 [12]. An important goal is to
present exciting Ada technology and projects also to people outside
the traditional Ada community.
Our proposal for another dedicated Ada DevRoom was accepted, and now
work continues to prepare the detailed program. We most probably
will have a total of 8.5 schedulable hours between 10:30 and 19:00
in one of the rooms which accommodate from 59 to 85 participants.
More information will be posted on the dedicated web-page on the
Ada-Belgium site [13], and final announcements will of course also
be sent to various forums, lists and newsgroups.
Call for Presentations
----------------------
We would like to schedule technical presentations, tutorials, demos,
live performances, project status reports, discussions, etc, in the
Ada Developer Room.
Ada-Belgium calls on you to:
- inform us at ada-belgium-board(a)cs.kuleuven.be about specific
presentations you would like to hear in this Ada DevRoom;
- for bonus points, subscribe to the Ada-FOSDEM mailing list [14]
to discuss and help organize the details;
- for more bonus points, be a speaker: the Ada-FOSDEM mailing list
is the place to be!
Do you have a talk you want to give?
Do you have a project you would like to present?
Would you like to get more people involved with your project?
We're inviting proposals that are related to Ada software
development, and include a technical oriented discussion.
You're not limited to slide presentations, of course.
Be creative. Propose something fun to share with people
so they might feel some of your enthusiasm for Ada!
Speaking slots are 15 or 45 minutes, plus 5 minutes for Q&A. Depending
on interest, we might also have a session with lightning presentations
(e.g. 5 minutes each), and/or an informal discussion session.
Note that all talks will be streamed live (audio+video) and recorded,
for remote as well as later viewing of talks, and so that people can
watch streams in the hallways when rooms are full. By submitting
a proposal, you agree to being recorded and streamed, and agree the
content of your talk will be published under the same license as all
FOSDEM content, a Creative Commons (CC-BY) license.
Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Subscribe to the Ada-FOSDEM mailing list [14], and submit
your proposal there. If needed, feel free to contact us at
ada-belgium-board(a)cs.kuleuven.be.
Please include:
- your name, affiliation, contact info;
- the title of your talk (be descriptive and creative);
- a short descriptive and attractive abstract;
- potentially pointers to more information;
- a short bio and photo.
See programs of previous Ada DevRooms (URLs below) for presentation
examples, as well as for the kind of info we need.
We'd like to put together a draft schedule by end of November. So,
please act ASAP, the sooner the better, but definitely by November 25,
2019 at the latest.
We look forward to lots of feedback and proposals!

*** INTRODUCTION ***
The big data paradigm has become an inevitable aspect of today's digital
forensics investigations. Acquiring a forensic copy of seized data
mediums already takes several hours due to the increasing storage size.
In addition are several other time-consuming laboratory analysis steps
required, such as evidence identification, corresponding data
preprocessing, analysis, linkage, and final reporting. These steps have
to be repeated for every physical device examined in the criminal case.
Conventional digital forensics data preprocessing and analysis methods
struggle when handling the contemporary variety, variability, volume and
velocity of case data. Thus, proactive approaches have to be developed
and integrated in daily law enforcement operations; for timely detection
and prevention of the illegal activities in a data-intensive
environments. Thus, there is a need for advanced big data analytics to
aid in cyber crime investigations, which requires novel approaches for
automated analysis. This workshop is organized to bring together recent
development in big data analysis to aid in current challenges in
cybercrime investigations.

20th SIAM International Conference on Data Mining May 7 - May 9, 2020,
Cincinnati, OH, USA ========================================
SDM 2020 - http://www.siam.org/meetings/sdm20
Call for Papers
Scope
=====
Data mining is the computational process for discovering valuable knowledge
from data - the core of modern Data Science. It has enormous application in
numerous fields, including science, engineering, healthcare, business, and
medicine. Typical datasets in these fields are large, complex, and often
noisy. Extracting knowledge from these datasets requires the use of
sophisticated, high-performance, and principled analysis techniques and
algorithms, which are based on sound theoretical and statistical
foundations. These techniques in turn require implementations on high
performance computational infrastructure that are carefully tuned for
performance. Powerful visualization technologies along with effective user
interfaces are also essential to make data mining tools appealing to
researchers, analysts, data scientists and application developers from
different disciplines, as well as usable by stakeholders.
The SDM conference provides a venue for researchers who are addressing these
problems to present their work in a peer-reviewed forum. It also provides an
ideal setting for graduate students and others new to the field to learn
about cutting-edge research by hearing outstanding invited speakers and
attending presentations and tutorials (included with conference
registration). A set of focused workshops is also held on the last day of
the conference. The proceedings of the conference are published in archival
form and are also made available on the SIAM web site.

AIMS AND SCOPE
The development of models through which computers can simulate the
evolution of artificial and natural systems is fundamental for the
advancement of Science. In the last decades, the increasing power of
computers has allowed to considerably extend the application of
computing methodologies in research and industry, but also to the
quantitative study of complex phenomena. This has permitted a broad
application of numerical methods for differential equation systems
(e.g., FEM, FDM, etc.) on one hand, and the application of alternative
computational paradigms, such as Cellular Automata, Genetic
Algorithms, Neural networks, Swarm Intelligence, etc., on the other.
These latter have demonstrated their effectiveness for modelling
purposes when traditional simulation methodologies have proven to be
impracticable.
Following the success of our past HPCMS workshops at PDP (since 2014),
we are glad to invite you to our sixth edition which will take place
in Vasteras (Västerås) (Sweden).
An important mission of the HPCMS Workshop is to provide a platform

Dear Chairs,
I am reaching out to you on behalf of the N2Women Fellowship Board. The
N2Women community has been holding meeting events at Networking conferences
that are organized by N2Women fellows and we are excited that this year we
will be to fund a fellow to organize an event at DySpan 2019.
The N2Women fellowship provides $1000 to a young female researcher, who is
in turn responsible for organizing the event.
If possible we would like the following call[1] to:
1. be forwarded to the authors of accepted papers and posters.
2. be forwarded to all travel grant applicants (since this can be an
alternate/complimentary source of funding)
3. be publicized on the conference web site.
The submission deadline is on Oct 7th 2019, and we would appreciate if you
could help us to spread the word.
We thank you in advance for your help.

N2Women is pleased to announce the continuation of our N2Women Young
Researcher Fellowship awards. N2Women considers you a young researcher if
you are currently a student, working as a post-doc, or in the 1st or 2nd
year of
your new research career. These awards will partially cover a young
researcher’s travel cost (up to $1000) to a meeting where an N2Women event
will be held. In exchange, the young researcher must help organize the
N2Women meeting. The benefit of doing the organization, in addition to the

!!!!NEWS!!!! - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 AoE
IA^3 2019
9th Workshop on Irregular Applications: Architectures and Algorithms
http://hpc.pnl.gov/IA3
November 18, 2019
Colorado Convention Center, Denver, CO
In conjunction with SC19
Sponsored by IEEE TCHPC
--------------------
Call for Papers
--------------------
Irregular applications occur in many subject matters. While inherently parallel, they exhibit highly variable execution performance at a local level due to unpredictable memory access patterns and/or network transfers, divergent control structures, and data imbalances. Moreover, they often require fine-grain synchronization and communication on large-data structures such as graphs, trees, unstructured grids, sparse matrices, deep nets, tables, and their combinations (such as, for example, attributed graphs). They have a significant degree of latent parallelism, which however is difficult to exploit due to their complex behavior. Current high performance architectures rely on data locality and regular computation to reduce access latencies, and often do not cope well with the requirements of these applications. Furthermore, irregular applications are difficult to scale on current supercomputing machines, due to their limits in fine-grained synchronization and small data transfers.
Irregular applications pertain both to well established and emerging fields, such as machine learning, social network analysis, bioinformatics, semantic graph databases, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and computer security. Many of these application areas also process massive sets of unstructured data, which keep growing exponentially. Emerging supercomputing applications are moving towards a convergence of scientific simulation, data analytics, and learning algorithms, mixed in various ways. Addressing the issues of irregular applications on current and future architectures will become critical to solve the challenges in science and data analysis of the next few years.
This workshop seeks to explore solutions for supporting efficient execution of irregular applications in the form of new features at the level of the micro- and system-architecture, network, languages and libraries, runtimes, compilers, analysis, algorithms. Topics of interest, of both theoretical and practical significance, include but are not limited to:
- Micro- and System-architectures, including multi- and many-core designs, heterogeneous processors, accelerators (GPUs, vector processors, Automata processor), reconfigurable (coarse grained reconfigurable and FPGA designs) and custom processors
- Network architectures and interconnect (including high-radix networks, optical interconnects)
- Novel memory architectures and designs (including processors-in memory)
- Impact of new computing paradigms on irregular workloads (including neuromorphic processors and quantum computing)
- Modeling, simulation and evaluation of novel architectures with irregular workloads
- Innovative algorithmic techniques
- Combinatorial algorithms (graph algorithms, sparse linear algebra, etc.)
- Impact of irregularity on machine learning approaches
- Parallelization techniques and data structures for irregular workloads
- Data structures combining regular and irregular computations (e.g., attributed graphs)
- Approaches for managing massive unstructured datasets (including streaming data)
- Languages and programming models for irregular workloads
- Library and runtime support for irregular workloads
- Compiler and analysis techniques for irregular workloads
- High performance data analytics applications (including graph databases and solutions that combine graph algorithms with machine learning)
- Applications that integrate scientific simulation, data analytics, and learning, and require efficient execution of irregular workloads
Besides regular papers, papers describing work-in-progress or incomplete but sound, innovative ideas related to the workshop theme are also encouraged. We solicit both 8-page regular papers and 4-page position papers. Authors of exciting but not mature enough regular papers may be offered the option of a short 4-page paper and related short presentation.

--------------------
Artifact Description & Evaluation
--------------------
This edition of the workshop invites authors of regular papers to follow a reproducibility initiative like the main SC Conference, with specific appendices for the Artifact Description (AD) and the Artifact Evaluation (AE). Please refer to the SC reproducibility page for further details on the rationale behind AD and AE: https://sc19.supercomputing.org/submit/reproducibility-initiative/.
Authors of regular papers will be able to use up to one (1) additional page to provide an Artifact Description (AD) Appendix, describing the details of their software environments and computational experiments to the extent that an independent person could replicate their results. This additional page is voluntary, and must focus only on details on software environments and methods to execute the experiments. It should not add details on the proposed technical approaches. If a paper has no computational results, the appendix only needs to mention that computational results are not part of the paper.
Additionally, authors of accepted regular papers will be invited to formally submit their supporting materials to the Artifact Evaluation (AE) process. The process is voluntary, but authors that will participate in the AE will be eligible for the Best Paper Award of the workshop. Supporting materials for the AE include access to the actual software artifact, shared publicly (for example, through the CK - Collective Knowledge - https://github.com/ctuning/ck format), and two (2) further additional pages of the paper that details how to reproduce the results of the paper. For details on how to submit supporting materials to the AE process, please refer to: http://ctuning.org/ae/submission.html. Authors participating in the AE will receive an assessment of the artifact, and the related badge on their paper.
For any additional question on the AD and the AE please contact the Artifact Evaluation Chair Flavio Vella at mailto:Flavio.Vella@unibz.it.
