## Introduction
The landscape of scientific computing …
[View More]is changing rapidly as complex, multi-stage pipelined workflows that combine traditional HPC computations with large-scale data analytics and AI are becoming increasingly common. Such complex workflows are expected to require the coordinated use of supercomputers, cloud data centers, and edge-processing devices in an environment with shared characteristics. Providing a seamless environment that combines the best of these worlds leads to an era of Converged Computing.
Cloud computing is becoming a dominant market force, driving innovation in both hardware and the software needed to manage increasing system and workflow complexity. Cloud technologies are gaining prevalence in HPC due to their benefits of resource dynamism, automation, reproducibility, and resilience. Similarly, HPC technologies for application performance optimization and sophisticated scheduling of complex resources are being integrated into modern cloud infrastructures. However, the convergence of HPC and cloud also raises a series of new challenges in areas of resource management, data transfers, storage and throughput.
The Second Workshop on Converged Computing (WOCC'24) will provide the edge, HPC and cloud communities a dedicated venue for discussing challenges and research opportunities, deployment efforts, and best practices in supporting complex workflows on coordinated use of supercomputers and cloud data centers as well as edge-processing devices. The workshop aims to spark discussion between participants who are developing applications, algorithms, middleware, and infrastructure for converged environments.
## Topics of Interest
We encourage submission of works that are related to the following topics, and accept other related topics.
Experience and best practice of converged computing of cloud, edge, and HPC
Resource and job management software
Architectures, networks, and storage
Software stack, middleware, and infrastructure
Advanced models for expressing system resources

1-4, 2024 in collaboration with Thuyloi University.
Virtual registration will be available in the spirit of facilitating
researchers suffering from very critical economic and political
situations. Besides online sessions, there will be pure on-site sessions
with presential participation.
ICCSA 2024 will be the next event in a series of highly successful
International Conferences on Computational Science and Its Applications
(ICCSA), previously held in a blended form in Athens - Greece (2023),
Malaga - Spain (2022), in Cagliari - Italy (2021), online (2020, as an
online-only event due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions). Then, before
COVID, in Saint Petersburg - Russia (2019), Melbourne - Australia
(2018), Trieste - Italy (2017), Beijing - China (2016), Banff - Canada
(2015), Guimaraes - Portugal (2014), Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam (2013),
Salvador da Bahia - Brazil (2012), Santander - Spain (2011), Fukuoka -
Japan (2010), Suwon - Korea (2009), Perugia - Italy (2008), Kuala Lumpur
- Malaysia (2007), Glasgow - United Kingdom (2006), Singapore -
Singapore(2005), Assisi - Italy (2004), Montreal - Canada (2003), and,
as ICCS, in Amsterdam - The Netherlands (2002) and San Francisco - USA
(2001).
Computational Science is a central pillar of most of the present
research, industrial and commercial activities and plays a unique role
in exploiting innovative ICT technologies.
The ICCSA Conference offers an opportunity to bring together scientists
of different disciplines, discuss new issues, tackle complex problems
and find advanced solutions breeding new trends in Computational Science.

**Paper Submission**
To submit a paper, please connect to the Submission site from the link
available at the ICCSA 2024 website: https://ess.iccsa.org.
Only papers submitted through the electronic system and strictly
adhering to the relevant format will be considered for reviewing and
publication.
The paper can belong to one of the following categories: Full Papers,
Short Papers, and PHD Showcase Papers, and can refer either to the
General Tracks or to one of the 70 workshop:
FULL PAPERS
Reporting an innovative and consolidated research work. The submitted
paper must be between 12 and 18 pages long.
SHORT PAPERS
Reporting preliminary results of ongoing research. The submitted paper
must be between 8 and 11 pages long.
PHD SHOWCASE PAPERS
Reporting ongoing research already achieving significant results and
primarily carried out by PhD students and junior researchers. The
submitted paper must be between 10 to 18 pages long.
Each paper must deal with original and unpublished work, not submitted
for publication elsewhere (copyright problems fall entirely under the
responsibility of the authors). Each paper will be reviewed by at least
three experts in the relevant field (acceptance rate was 28% in 2005,
26% in 2006 and 28% in 2007, 29% in 2008, 30% in 2009, 29% in 2021,
2011, 2012, and 30% in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020,
2021, 2022 and 2023) according to the Single Blind review method,
ensuring the publication of only top quality contributions.
When a paper is accepted, at least one of the authors has to register
for the conference and deliver the related talk. Failure to do so shall
lead to the rejection of the application to attend next year's
conference and the exclusion of the paper from the current year's
proceedings.

**CALL FOR PAPERS**
The 25th IEEE International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed
Scientific and Engineering Computing (PDSEC-2024) (http://www.ieee- <http://www.ieee-/>
tcsc.org/2024/pdsec/ <http://tcsc.org/2024/pdsec/>) will be held on May 31, 2024 in San Francisco,
California, USA, in conjunction with IPDPS 2024.
Deadline:
PDSEC-2024 deadline: 02 Feb 2024 (AoE)
Scope and Interests:
The technological trends in HPC system evolution indicates an increasing
burden placed on …
[View More]application developers due to the management of the
unprecedented complexity levels of hardware and its associated
performance characteristics. Many existing scientific applications codes
are unlikely to perform well on future systems without major modifications
or even complete rewrites. In the future, it will be necessary to utilize, in
concert, many characteristics such as multiple levels of parallelism, many
lightweight cores, complex memory hierarchies, novel I/O technology,
power capping, system-wide temporal/spatial performance heterogeneity
and reliability concerns. The parallel and distributed computing (PDC)
community has developed new programming models, algorithms, libraries
and tools to meet these challenges in order to accommodate productive
code development and effective system use. However, the scientific
application community still needs to identify the benefit through practical
evaluations.
Thus, the focus of this workshop is on methodologies and experiences
used in scientific and engineering applications and algorithms to achieve
sustainable code development for better productivity, application
performance and reliability. In particular, we will focus on the following
topics in parallel and distributed scientific and engineering applications,
and not limited to:
- Big scientific data
- Performance modeling and simulation for the execution of scalable
scientific applications on new heterogeneous architectures
- Graph analytics with their (scientific) applications
- Code modernization methodologies and experiences for adapting the
changes in future computing systems
- Languages for scientific computing on hybrid systems (e.g. Python,
MPI+X where X is OpenMP, OpenCL, CUDA etc.)
- Tools and techniques for improving the performance, reliability and
resilience of scientific applications
- Use cases of enterprise distributed computing technology (such as
MapReduce, Data Analytics and Machine-learning tools) in scientific and
engineering applications
- Scalable parallel and distributed algorithms supporting science and
engineering applications
- Performance portability across heterogeneous architecture
