INTRODUCTION
=============
Big Data has received increasing attention in recent years, as
organizations and cities are dealing with tremendous amounts of data
with high complexity and velocity. These data are fast moving and
changing in value, meaning and format. They also can originate from
various sources, such as social networks, unstructured data from
different devices or raw feeds from sensors. It, thus, challenges
traditional data management approaches and tools related to performance,
integration and analytics. One of the key challenges is how to use Cloud
and Services Computing to process Big Data, build effective cloud
applications, and provide service-based data analytics. However, there
exists particularly limited knowledge on how to apply the Big Data
technologies into Cloud and Services Computing applications. Therefore,
this Special Session aims to discuss Big Data in Cloud and Services
Computing Applications, and particularly focuses on the Big Data
research from cloud and service-based perspectives. It also covers many
dimensions of big data technologies, including system aspects,
algorithmic, privacy and security, computational intelligence and
innovative applications.
Provision of the above topics presents a new set of emerging issues and
challenges that are expected to be identified by the research community.
Therefore, we aim to provide a platform for discussing approaches,
models, results and case studies or experience reports addressing a
broad range of issues related to Big Data in Cloud and Services
Computing Applications. Therefore, this special session intends to build
a foundation for further empirical research to understand Big Data and
its implications for Cloud and Services Computing Applications. Papers
can include and discuss various research methods and can be based on
case studies, quantitative methods, design science. In addition,
practical oriented research and experience reports are encouraged.
SCOPE AND TOPICS

Ubiquitous Intelligence for Smart World
The smart world is set to enhance everyday things with abilities of
sensation, communication, computation and intelligence so that many
tasks and processes could be simplified, more efficient and productive.
It consists of numerous "smart things" that can be endowed with
different levels/forms of computational intelligence and even capable of

many areas, essential problems and crucial issues in truly building the
smart world that benefits humanity, and simultaneously safeguards the
natural environment for sustainable development and evolution.
The 4th IEEE Smart World Congress originated from the 2005 Workshop on
Ubiquitous Smart Worlds (USW, Taipei) and the 2005 Symposium on
Ubiquitous Intelligence and Smart World (UISW, Nagasaki). SmartWorld
2018 in Guangzhou is the continuation after the success of SmartWorld

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. MobiSPC 2018 will be held in Gran
Canaria, Spain. Gran Canaria originally meaning "Great [Island] of Dogs" is
the second most populous island of the Canary Islands, an African
archipelago which is part of Spain, with a population of 847,830 (in 2015)
that constitutes approximately 40% of the population of the archipelago.
Located in the Atlantic Ocean about 150 kilometres (93 mi) off the
northwestern coast of Africa and about 1,350 km (840 mi) from Europe. With
an area of 1,560 km2 (602 sq. mi) and an altitude of 1,956 m (6,417 ft) at
the Pico de las Nieves, Gran Canaria is the third largest island of the
archipelago in both area and altitude.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS
Submitted papers should be at most 16 pages in the LNCS format,

should be intelligible without them. Submissions are to be made to the
submission web site at
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dbsec2018. Only pdf files will
be accepted. Submissions not meeting these guidelines risk rejection
without consideration of their merits. Papers must be received by the
deadline of April 13, 2018 (11:59 PM American Samoa time). At least
one author of an accepted paper is required to register for the
conference at the full rate and must guarantee that the paper will be
presented. Note that for authors with multiple accepted papers, one
full registration is valid for one paper only. Accepted papers will be
published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)
series. The final version of the accepted papers must be in the format
required of publications in the LNCS series (a Latex source file will
be required). A paper submitted to DBSec 2018 cannot be under review
for any other conference or journal during the time it is being
considered for DBSec 2018. Furthermore, after you submit to DBSec
2018, you must await our response before submitting elsewhere. If you
submit your paper to another conference or journal either before/after
submission of the paper to DBSec 2018, we will reject your paper
without review and will notify the other conference/journal as
well. This restriction applies to identical as well as to
substantially similar papers.

**********************************************************************************
The 5th International Conference on Algorithms for Computational Biology (AlCoB 2018) invites researchers to submit poster presentations. AlCoB 2018 will be held in Hong Kong on June 25-26, 2018. See
http://grammars.grlmc.com/AlCoB2018/
Poster presentations are …
[View More]intended to enhance informal interactions with conference participants, at the same time allowing for in-depth discussion.
TOPICS
Presentations displaying novel work in progress on algorithms in computational biology are encouraged on the following topics:
- assembling sequence reads into a complete genome,
- identifying gene structures in the genome,
- recognizing regulatory motifs,
- aligning nucleotides and comparing genomes,
- reconstructing regulatory networks of genes, and
- inferring the evolutionary phylogeny of species.
Posters do not need to show final research results. Work that might lead to new interesting developments is welcome.
KEY DATES
Poster submission deadline: May 18, 2018
Notification of poster acceptance or rejection: May 25, 2018
SUBMISSION
Please submit a .pdf abstract through:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=alcob2018
It should contain the title, author(s) and affiliation, and should not exceed 500 words.
PRESENTATION
Posters will be allocated 10 minutes each in the programme for oral presentation. Moreover, they will remain hanging out during the whole conference for discussion.
PUBLICATION
Posters will not appear in the LNCS/LNBI proceedings volume of AlCoB 2018. However, they will be eligible for submission to the post-conference journal special issue in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (2016 JCR impact factor: 1.955).
REGISTRATION
At least one author of each accepted poster must register to the conference by June 11, 2018. The registration fare is reduced: 285 Euros. It gives the same rights all other conference participants have (attendance, copy of the proceedings volume, lunches, coffee breaks). Contributors of regular papers who in addition get a poster accepted must register for the latter independently.
