**CALL FOR PAPERS**
The 25th IEEE International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed
Scientific and Engineering Computing (PDSEC-2024) (http://www.ieee- <http://www.ieee-/>
tcsc.org/2024/pdsec/ <http://tcsc.org/2024/pdsec/>) will be held on May 31, 2024 in San Francisco,
California, USA, in conjunction with IPDPS 2024.
Deadline:
PDSEC-2024 deadline: 02 Feb 2024 (AoE)
Scope and Interests:
The technological trends in HPC system evolution indicates an increasing
burden placed on application developers due to the management of the
unprecedented complexity levels of hardware and its associated
performance characteristics. Many existing scientific applications codes
are unlikely to perform well on future systems without major modifications
or even complete rewrites. In the future, it will be necessary to utilize, in
concert, many characteristics such as multiple levels of parallelism, many
lightweight cores, complex memory hierarchies, novel I/O technology,
power capping, system-wide temporal/spatial performance heterogeneity
and reliability concerns. The parallel and distributed computing (PDC)
community has developed new programming models, algorithms, libraries
and tools to meet these challenges in order to accommodate productive
code development and effective system use. However, the scientific
application community still needs to identify the benefit through practical
evaluations.
Thus, the focus of this workshop is on methodologies and experiences
used in scientific and engineering applications and algorithms to achieve
sustainable code development for better productivity, application
performance and reliability. In particular, we will focus on the following
topics in parallel and distributed scientific and engineering applications,
and not limited to:
- Big scientific data
- Performance modeling and simulation for the execution of scalable
scientific applications on new heterogeneous architectures
- Graph analytics with their (scientific) applications
- Code modernization methodologies and experiences for adapting the
changes in future computing systems
- Languages for scientific computing on hybrid systems (e.g. Python,
MPI+X where X is OpenMP, OpenCL, CUDA etc.)
- Tools and techniques for improving the performance, reliability and
resilience of scientific applications
- Use cases of enterprise distributed computing technology (such as
MapReduce, Data Analytics and Machine-learning tools) in scientific and
engineering applications
- Scalable parallel and distributed algorithms supporting science and
engineering applications
- Performance portability across heterogeneous architecture

Submission deadline
March 1, 2024
The tasks of systems and network telemetry are vital for effective
operations and management of HPC and distributed computing systems by
offering comprehensive measurement and analysis capabilities to provide
visibility into what is occurring at any time. The tasks will be
significantly complicated with the greater complexity of computing
systems, increasing network speed, and the newly introduced mobile and
IoT devices. Such changes will render the existing telemetry and
analysis techniques outdated, and more scalable techniques may be in
place for data-driven and deeper data analysis. In addition to the
quantitative and qualitative challenges, data pressure in systems and
networks also comes from various sources such as sensors, computing
systems, networking and security devices, and other emerging computing
elements speaking with different syntax and semantics, which makes
organizing and incorporating the generated data difficult for extensive
analysis. This workshop aims at bridging the systems and network
measurement and the latest advances in artificial intelligence and data
science technologies to advance the performance and reliability of HPC
and distributed systems. New analysis techniques are needed in the
modern world from the diverse angles of systems/network performance,
availability, and security. For example, real-time streaming analytics
algorithms and methods need to be explored for estimating network
performance and summarizing the traffic variables to capture the network
activities due to the network bandwidth increase. Multivariate analysis
of telemetric variables may provide an intuitive, comprehensive view of
the systems and network dynamics. New logging techniques are also needed
with the latest developments in storage and archival technologies. In
addition, many applications in this area may need to address the
application-specific requirements and challenges. This workshop intends
to share visions of investigating new approaches and methods at the
intersection of data sciences and HPC/distributed computing systems.
Topics of Interest (but not limited to)
• Systems and network measurement, analysis, and summarization
• Data-driven, multivariate, streaming-based data processing
• Scalable distributed and federated machine learning
• Performance modeling, analysis, and optimization
• Cybersecurity, forensics, privacy, and anonymization

The 11th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud
(FiCloud 2024)
Vienna, Austria [Hybrid]
19-21 August 2024
http://www.ficloud.org/2024
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Internet of Things (IoT) vision is to provide a dynamic and global
network infrastructure which is characterized by intelligent and self
configuring capabilities. IoT is considered as an integral part of the
future Internet. It is based on interoperable communication protocols in
order to enable the interaction and integration of virtual as well as
physical Things such as computers, smart devices, sensors, cars,
refrigerators, food packages, medicines, etc. Things can be seamlessly
integrated into the information network and interaction can be made through
the provision of intelligent interfaces. In not so distant future, IoT will
be forcing its way into every aspect of our lives and technologies
including smart homes, smart cities, environment and nature, green energy,
food, medicine, automotive, aerospace and aviation, telecommunication, and
so on.
IoT is generally characterized by real world and small Things, limited
capacity, constrained devices and the consequential issues such as less
reliability, security and privacy. Cloud computing on the other hand deals
mainly with virtual world and has unlimited capabilities in terms of
storage and processing power. Thus cloud and IoT are the main complementary
aspects of the future Internet. IoT can benefit from the unlimited
capabilities and resources of cloud computing. Similarly, cloud can benefit
from IoT by extending its scope to deal with real world things in a more
distributed and dynamic manner.
The theme of this conference is to promote the state of the art in
