SCOPE
With the advancement of electronics and information technologies, digital
media platforms and virtual space have become a significant part of human
life today. People can share and exchange information and ideas globally
just with a single click. Among these digital media platforms, social
networks such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc., have a good standing.
They represent the most used applications by the people, everywhere and for
all times so far. Moreover, the traffic generated by digital media
platforms represents more than half of the web traffic worldwide.
It is a fact that the use of these digital media platforms has dramatically
influenced our habits on the Internet and in our daily life. As a result,
we must adequately be wary of the electronic violence propagated via social
networks. Indeed, cyberbullying has recently emerged as an effective form
of bullying and online harassment. This phenomenon is becoming a concern
worldwide. It includes many forms such as racism, terrorism, and several
types of trolling. On the other hand, Machine Intelligence (MI) and overall
Artificial Intelligence have shown promise to be powerful tools in various
domains, such as computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), speech
recognition, computational biology, and others. Motivated by these
successes, researchers worldwide have recently started investigating
applications of these techniques to handle cyberbullying issues in the
modern media. In this context, in recent years, many methods such as Fuzzy
Logic (FL), Evolutionary Algorithms (EA), M
achine Learning (ML), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Deep Learning
(DL) have been applied for detecting cyberbullying content generated by
digital media platforms. This book examines how machine intelligence
techniques can contribute to detecting and combating cyberbullying
phenomenon.
The book is intended for researchers, specialists in AI and cyberbullying,
teachers and it could be helpful for undergraduate and graduate students as
well.

CFP
Model development for the simulation of the evolution of artificial
and natural systems is essential for the advancement of Science. The
increasing power of computers has allowed to considerably extend the
application of computing methodologies in research and industry, but
also to the quantitative study of complex phenomena. This has
permitted a broad application of numerical methods for differential
equation systems (e.g., FEM, FDM, etc.) on one hand, and the
application of alternative computational paradigms, such as Cellular
Automata, Genetic Algorithms, Neural networks, Swarm Intelligence,
etc., on the other. These latter have demonstrated their effectiveness
for modelling purposes when traditional simulation methodologies have
proven to be impracticable.
An important mission of the HPCMS Special Session within the NUMTA
2023 4th International Conference and Summer School is to provide a
platform for a multidisciplinary community composed of scholars,
researchers, developers, educators, practitioners and experts from
world leading Universities, Institutions, Agencies and Companies in
Computational Science, and thus in the High Performance Computing for
Modelling and Simulation field.
The session intent is to offer an opportunity to express and confront
views on trends, challenges, and state-of-the art in diverse
application fields, such as engineering, physics, chemistry, biology,
geology, hydrology, medicine, ecology, traffic control, economy, etc.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- High-performance computing in computational science:
intra-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research applications
- Complex systems modelling and simulation
- Cellular Automata, Genetic Algorithms, Neural networks, Swarm
Intelligence implementations
- Integrated approach to optimization and simulation
- MPI, OpenMP, GPGPU applications in Computational Science
- Optimization algorithms, modelling techniques related to
optimization in Computational Science
- High-performance Software developed to solve science (e.g.,
biological, physical, earth science and social), engineering,
medicine, and humanities problems
- Hardware approaches of high performance computing in modeling and simulation
Publications: A book of one-page abstracts will be available on the
conference webpage. Participants regularly registered for NUMTA may
also submit their full papers to the post-conference proceedings that
will be published in the Springer LNCS series: short 6-8+ and long
12-15+ original research papers will be regularly peer-reviewed.
Special issues of highly cited international journals will also be
organized.
Submission
The authors are invited to contact the organizers of the special
session (William Spataro: spataro(at)unical.it) before submitting
their abstract (please include "HPCMS – NUMTA 2023 abstract
submission" in the subject).
Submission information can be found here:
