The Fourth International Workshop on Security in NFV-SDN (SNS2018) Deadline extended in conjunction with the IEEE Conference on Network Softwarization (NetSoft 2018), 25-29 June, 2018 Montreal, Canada Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Network (SDN) have changed the networking industry dramatically. NFV virtualizes network services by utilizing virtualization technologies to reduce the dependency on underlying hardware. NFV provides many benefits such as faster service enablement, ease of resource management and lower OPEX and CAPEX. SDN separates the control functions from the underlying physical network by decoupling the control and data planes. SDN provides many benefits such as reduced costs, ease of deployment and management, better scalability, availability, flexibility and fine-grain control of traffic and security. Like traditional networks, they are subject to various security threats and attacks. In this workshop, we invite high-quality submissions in the areas of NFV and SDN security and other related areas. Submitted papers should highlight methods and approaches that can be used to analyse the security risks and requirements, threats and techniques related to NFV and SDN and to provide novel methods and approaches to assure security in NFV and SDN. ICIP 2018 is offering a 3 Minutes Thesis (3MT) competition, where PhD students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. It is an exercise for students to consolidate their ideas so they can present them concisely to an audience specialized in different areas. Together with scientific and technical quality, ICIP wants to promote transversal skills of PhD researchers such as oral and presentation skills, and it also wants to help PhDs to gain visibility of their work. Although the benefits of cloud computing are tremendous, security and privacy concerns have still a detrimental impact on the adoption and acceptability of cloud services. In fact, users as well as companies that rely on cloud storage and computation services lose the direct control over the systems managing their data and applications, thus putting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data at risk. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in discussing the security, privacy, and data protection issues emerging in cloud scenarios, and possible solutions to them. SPC 2018 is the fourth workshop in this series and will be held in Beijing, China, on May 30-June 1, in conjunction with the IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (IEEE CNS 2018). The studies on this field is mainly considered under two categories, namely Selection and Generation Hyper-heuristics. Selection Hyper-heuristics operate by automatically choosing (low-level) heuristics from an existing heuristic set while the latter type focuses on generating heuristics from scratch based on predefined components. This stream is expecting studies focusing on either of these hyper-heuristic types -offering different learning approaches, utilizing distinct (meta-) heuristic techniques while dealing with various problems. Dear Colleagues, International Women’s Day provided us with the opportunity to reflect upon the diversity within our School. The Melbourne School of Engineering has 182 women academic staff, but this represents just 22 per cent of our total academic numbers. We are committed to remedying this imbalance and lifting the representation of women to 30 per cent by 2022. To help enact this change, I’m pleased to announce five new continuing positions that we are making available to women of exceptional calibre, in all fields of engineering, computing and information systems. The five positions are across the School and we are accepting applications from all related areas. The scale of cloud computing data centers is similar to the supercomputers used in High Performance Computing. Both involve millions of CPU cores, tens of thousands of accelerators like GPUs, FPGAs connected by high speed interconnects and different connection topologies. Studies have shown that the GPU utilization in HPC is often at 50%. Virtualization can be the key to increasing resource utilization and managing massive infrastructures efficiently. GPU vendors have introduced virtualized versions of GPUs. FPGAs are being deployed in virtual infrastructure. These and other developments in the field, along with future exascale systems, will provide increasing degree of virtualization within the systems. The goal of this session is to be an opportunity to discuss and exchange research on the different virtualization technologies and how they can be efficiently applied in High Performance Computing.
