*CALL FOR PAPERS*
*8th International Workshop on*
*Biological **Knowledge Discovery from Data **(BIOKDD'17)*
Held in parallel with
*28th International Conference on Database and *
*Expert Systems Applications **(**DEXA’17**)*
www.dexa.org/biokdd2017
Lyon, France
August 28 - 31, 2017
In the recent years, there has been a rapid development of biological
technologies producing more and more *biological data*, i.e., data related
to biological macromolecules (DNA, RNA and proteins). The rise of *Next
Generation Sequencing* (NGS) technologies, also known as *high-throughput
sequencing* technologies, has contributed actively to the deluge of these
data. In general, these data are big, heterogeneous, complex, and distributed
in all over the world in databases. Analyzing this huge volume of data is a
challenging task, not only, because of its complexity and its multiple and
numerous correlated factors, but also, because of the continuous evolution
of our understanding of the biological mechanisms. Classical approaches of
biological data analysis are no longer efficient and produce only a very
limited amount of information, compared to the numerous and complex
biological mechanisms under study. From here comes the necessity to use
computer tools and develop new *in silico* high performance approaches to
support us in the analysis of biological data and, hence, to help us in our
understanding of the correlations that exist between, on one hand,
structures and functional patterns in biological macromolecules and, on the
other hand, genetic and biochemical mechanisms. *Biological **Knowledge
Discovery from Data* (BIOKDD) is a response to these new trends.
Topics of BIOKDD’17 workshop include, but not limited to:
*Data Preprocessing: *Biological Data Storage*, *Representation and Management
(data warehouses, databases, sequences, trees, graphs, biological networks
and pathways, …), Biological Data Cleaning (errors removal, redundant data
removal, completion of missing data, …), Feature Extraction (motifs, subgraphs,
…), Feature Selection (filter approaches, wrapper approaches, hybrid
approaches, embedded approaches, …).
*Data Mining: *Biological Data Regression (regression of biological
sequences, …), Biological Data Clustering/Biclustering (microarray data
biclustering, clustering/biclustering of biological sequences, …),
Biological Data Classification (classification of biological
sequences, …), Association
Rules Learning from Biological Data, Text Mining and Application to
Biological Sequences, Web Mining and Application to Biological Data,
Parallel, Cloud and Grid Computing for Biological Data Mining.
*Data Postprocessing:* Biological Nuggets of Knowledge Filtering,
Biological Nuggets of Knowledge Representation and Visualization,
Biological Nuggets of Knowledge Evaluation (calculation of the
classification error rate, evaluation of the association rules *via*
numerical indicators, e.g. *measurements of interest*, … ), Biological
Nuggets of Knowledge Integration.

Special Issue on Dynamic Geometry and Automated Reasoning
https://sites.google.com/site/kovzol/jsc-si-dg-ar
Journal of Symbolic Computation*
https://www.journals. elsevier.com/journal-of-symbolic-computation
GUEST EDITORS:
Francisco Botana, University of Vigo, Spain
Zoltán Kovács, The Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz, Austria
Tomas Recio, University of Cantabria, Spain
IMPORTANT DATES:
- submission deadline: September 1, 2017
- notification of acceptance / rejection: February 2, 2018
- final versions: March 30, 2018
SCOPE:
Since the last half century, automated deduction in elementary geometry has become one of the most successful achievements in the field of automated reasoning. Along these decades various methods and techniques have been studied and developed for automated proving and discovering of elementary geometry statements. On the other hand, dynamic geometry software systems have emerged, such as Cabri Geometry, C.a.R., Cinderella, DrGeo, GeoGebra, The Geometer's Sketchpad, Geometry Expert, Geometry Expressions or Kig with an ever-increasing presence in mathematics education. Some of them possess a large number of users (over thirty million) all around the world.
The merging of these two tools (automatic proving and dynamic geometry) is, thus, a very natural, challenging and promising issue, currently involving logic, symbolic computation, software development, algebraic geometry and mathematics education experts all from over the world.
The Special Issue intends to be an opportunity for
- presenting the current state of the art concerning the development of automatic proving features on dynamic geometry systems,
- discussing the current and potential applications of such features in different contexts, such as CAGD or mathematics education.
TOPICS (not restricted to):
- Algorithmic aspects: formal, logic and algebraic geometry approaches, constraint solving, invariant and coordinate-free methods, real and complex geometry issues, probabilistic, synthetic approaches, techniques from discrete mathematics, combinatorics, and numerics.
- Software aspects: Implementation of automated proving methods in dynamic geometry programs, design of packages and systems, data representation. Parallel and distributed computing, considerations for modern hardware and new devices. User-interface issues, use with systems for digital libraries, courseware, ...
- Application aspects: applications to mechanics, geometric modeling, CAGD/CAD, computer vision, robotics and education.
Papers must not duplicate work already published or submitted for publication elsewhere. All the papers will be refereed according to the JSC standards. Papers should follow the guidelines for JSC submissions (seehttps://www.elsevier.com/journals/journal-of-symbolic-computation/0747-7…), and should be submitted through Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=jscdgarsi2018).
The introduction of the paper must explicitly address the following questions in succinct and informal manner:
- What is the problem?
- Why is the problem important?
- What has been done so far on the problem?
- What is the main contribution of the paper on the problem?
- Why is the contribution original? (see below for clarification)
- Why is the contribution non-trivial?
Make the paper complete (since there is no page limit):
- All the related works and issues must be completely and carefully discussed.
- All the previous relevant JSC papers must be properly cited and discussed.
- All the theorems must be rigorously proved (no sketch allowed).
- All the important definitions/theorems/algorithms must be illustrated by well-chosen examples.
* An international journal, the Journal of Symbolic Computation, founded by Bruno Buchberger in 1985, is directed to mathematicians and computer scientists who have a particular interest in symbolic computation. Automated theorem proving is one of the research areas of interest highlighted in the Journal’s description. The Journal of Symbolic Computation has a 1.030 Impact Factor, according to the last Thompson Reuters Journal Citation Reports (2016).

The 4th International Symposium on Intercloud and IoT (ICI 2017)
21-23 August 2017, Prague, Czech Republic
http://www.ficloud.org/ici2017/
Co-located with the IEEE FiCloud 2017 (http://www.ficloud.org/2017/)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Intercloud aims to create a cloud of clouds in order to enable
interconnection between
heterogeneous clouds. Objectives are to share resources, support extreme
workload,
efficiently process big data and place data and compute power closer to
places where they are needed more. Intercloud can also minimise the vendor
lock-in problem so that users can use services offered by multiple clouds.
Intercloud can be used in a wide spectrum of applications including the
IoT. For instance,
according to the Cisco's Internet of Things Business Unit, Cisco plans to
enhance IoT
services through Intercloud in order to localise compute power and data
processing where these are needed more - e.g., "sensors on a cargo ship can
monitor whether the containers on board have shifted en route or gotten too
hot or too cold. All those readings may add up to more data than is
economical to send in real time to a data center half a world away via a
narrowband satellite link” (Computerworld).
The objective of the International Symposium on Intercloud and IoT (ICI) is
to discuss and develop new models, methods, and techniques in order to
realise the true vision of
Intercloud and IoT services. It aims to provide a forum for researchers and
practitioners
in order to discuss ideas and share knowledge on various issues related to
the theme of the symposium.
Topics of the ICI symposium include (but not limited to):
- Architectures and models
- Integration and collaboration
- Network design and architecture
- Software systems
- Data processing and management
- Context-aware service provisioning
- Security, trust and privacy
- Fault tolerance and reliability
- Performance evaluation and modelling
- Network communication protocols
- Rules and policies
- Business models and standards
- Service level agreements
Important Dates:

The IEEE 5th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and
Cloud (FiCloud 2017)
21-23 August 2017, Prague, Czech Republic
http://www.ficloud.org/2017/
------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------
The Internet of Things (IoT) vision is to provide a dynamic and global
network infrastructure which is characterized by intelligent and self
configuring capabilities. IoT is considered as an integral part of the
future Internet. It is based on interoperable communication protocols in
order to enable the interaction and integration of virtual as well as
physical Things such as computers, smart devices, sensors, cars,
refrigerators, food packages, medicines, etc. Things can be seamlessly
integrated into the information network and interaction can be made through
the provision of intelligent interfaces. In not so distant future, IoT will
be forcing its way into every aspect of our lives and technologies
including smart homes, smart cities, environment and nature, green energy,
food, medicine, automotive, aerospace and aviation, telecommunication, and
so on.
IoT is generally characterized by real world and small Things, limited
capacity, constrained devices and the consequential issues such as less
reliability, security and privacy. Cloud computing on the other hand deals
mainly with virtual world and has unlimited capabilities in terms of
storage and processing power. Thus cloud and IoT are the main complementary
aspects of the future Internet. IoT can benefit from the unlimited
capabilities and resources of cloud computing. Similarly, cloud can benefit
from IoT by extending its scope to deal with real world things in a more
distributed and dynamic manner.
The theme of this conference is to promote the state of the art in
scientific and practical research of the IoT and cloud computing. It
provides a forum for bringing together researchers and practitioners from
academia, industry, and public sector in an effort to present their
research work and share research and development ideas in the area of IoT
and cloud computing.
